The UFC has not announced the return date of Conor McGregor yet. Nevertheless, the former double champion seems to have started his training for his eventual comeback. McGregor re-entered the USADA’s testing pool a couple of months ago and now, he shared a story on Instagram with a snap of his latest fight camp.
The camp, which was seen to be in the process of getting set up, had an Octagon with ‘TheMacLife’ logo on it. This update has spurred rumors and speculations of the possibility of Conor McGregor making his return at UFC 300. However, Dana White has not said anything about it but has announced a few more upcoming fights for 2024. Let’s see what he had to say.
Dana White promises big main event fight announcements
The UFC CEO had already announced the main events for the first three pay-per-views of 2024 over a month ago. Now, he announced a few more fights. White added a middleweight clash between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa for UFC 298. Thereafter, he announced Ian Garry taking Geoff Neal on the same card. He announced a few other fights, including a UFC 300 fight involving Aljamain Sterling, making his move to the featherweight division among a few other fights on the card.
“Now, what everybody’s been waiting for. No main events or anything like that, but I will tell you. April 13th, UFC 300, No.3-ranked Jiri Prochazka versus no.5-ranked Aleksandar Rakić,” Dana White stated. “Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling moves up to featherweight to face no.7th-ranked Calvin Kattar and the return of Bo Nickal… he is taking on Cody Brundage.” We will have to wait and see who features on the co-main and main event of UFC 300.

Even though he respects the work that other promotions are doing, he does not think that enough MMA fans are getting to know who the fighters are since few people tune in to watch the fights that UFC rival companies have to offer.

“No disrespect to the other organizations, there’s very good fighters in the other organizations, but I often feel like they’re wasting their career. Because I see these elite fighters that are fighting in Bellator or PFL, and I’m like, ‘Hey guys,… pic.twitter.com/6fyV15OAwj

He believes that the UFC’s standing in the MMA industry is so big that fighters should mostly look to get into Dana White’s position. Other than that, he does not think fighters can make much of an impact if they compete in other promotions. It remains to be seen how the MMA community responds to these claims from the 56-year-old.
