The latest example of a brutal knockout is Bernardo Sopai’s victory over Julien Lopez at FCR 15. Sopai is the training partner of Khamzat Chimaev. In the bantamweight championship bout, Sopai landed a devastating punch that sent Lopez crashing to the canvas. The power of the punch was enough to stop Lopez in his tracks, and it was clear that he was unconscious before he hit the ground. However, Sopai did not stop there. He followed up with a second punch to the face of his grounded opponent.

Was The Second Punch Necessary?
A similar question was asked to Jorge Masvidal when the UFC welterweight knocked out Ben Askren. Masvidal followed up with some strong blows to an unconscious Askren till the referee stopped the fight. ‘Gamebred’ responded by saying that the punches were “super necessary”. Masvidal then went on to explain that his job as a fighter is to fight till the referee pulls him off, and that is exactly what he did.
