MMA Fans Debate Over Dana White Closing Doors to Dillon Danis’ Potential UFC Debut Despite Selling 1.3M PPVs in Last Fight- “Publicity and Money”

Dillon Danis‘ dreams to join the UFC may just have crashed and burned, much like his boxing match against Logan Paul. The MMA fighter recently rose to fame as he prepared to fight Paul for Misfits Boxing. However, his fight against Paul itself was much less exciting than all the beef.

After the humiliating loss, Danis set his eye on the UFC. He even went as far as to claim that he’ll most likely retire if the promotion doesn’t sign him on. And well, it looks like he may have to start considering the harsher options. Here’s what Dana White said in the latest conversation about Danis.

Dana White won’t have Dillon Danis in the Octagon

Dana White has created an organization with some of the world’s greatest combat sports athletes of all time. He’s signed great talents and also rejected many as the promotion continues to grow. Unfortunately, it looks like Danis has landed on the latter list.

Recently, White appeared on the Full Send Podcast where he discussed the likelihood of signing Dillon Danis. While he might be great for marketing, signing a controversial star is still something White might have to think about, and he had. Here are his thoughts.

“I have no beef with the kid at all, I’ve probably said two words to him in my whole life,” White said. “But every time he’s around, sh*t’s going down. We can’t have that stuff going on here. A lot of people will see when guys get into it on stage or something starts to happen, they’re like ‘Oh, they must love this’ or whatever. No. No, we don’t love it.

“We don’t need that s*** to sell fights…The athletic commission goes crazy and people start getting fined and they come after us. It’s our job to keep that s*** under control”. So perhaps it’s best for the former Bellator fighter to start planning his retirement with White’s ultimatum down the line. Controversy and negative publicity have done their part in selling seats for the UFC in the past. But White does have a point in wanting to avoid unnecessary altercations.
