Even though the supposed fight is four months away, the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight has already witnessed back-to-back promotional stories. People are hopping on to videos and Instagram posts uploaded months back, where Tyson and Paul had interacted with each other. There is one video that resurfaced again of the Hotboxin’ podcast where ‘Iron’ Mike and Paul interacted with each other for more than an hour.

The ‘Problem Child’ was having a gala time with Tyson in his podcast where Tyson had asked him what he had planned for the future. That is when Paul decided to finally reveal that he wanted to take part in boxing. So, the initial planning was heard first by ‘Iron’ Mike, and he even asked what Paul had decided to do in boxing. The YouTube star already dabbled in jiu-jitsu but had decided to get serious about fighting and go into boxing competitions to beat the best. This is when he decided to ask a pertinent question, “What happens if I go in and beat Nate Diaz in his craft?”

Tyson, at the time had encouraged him and said, “Oh God! I’d like to see that happen.” He had also mentioned that he had a discussion with somebody unnamed about Paul: ” What do you think about him (Jake Paul) not being relevant and stuff you’re not a real fight? I discussed with somebody…” Tyson then continued and revealed that “they” told him that he was using the wrong phrase- “saving boxing”. He had added, “I had to write him back and explain to him you never drew a 100-mil people, 70 mil people to the fight, have you?” So according to Tyson it meant that he (Jake Paul) could help the boxing industry!

The legend had asked Paul whether he would bring a different demographic to the arena. The ‘Problem Child’ had seemed confident back then, and said that he would bring his followers and fanbase that did not watch boxing earlier. He would give new exposure to boxing and could make the youth care about the game. The dynamics between Tyson and Paul might have changed now due to the fight but ‘Iron’ Mike has supported the young man more than once before.

Mike Tyson endorsed Jake Paul’s contribution to boxing

A throwback footage taken from Jimmy Kimmel has resurfaced amid the Netflix-featured fight between Paul and Tyson. The episode from 2022 had Kimmel asking whether Tyson thought that Jake Paul was skilled enough to enter boxing. Tyson answered with an affirmative tone and said that he was skilled enough. “I’m gonna give it to him, he’s skilled enough,” he said.

At the time, Jake Paul had essentially started winning and scoring victories against fighters who many thought were not proficient enough. With that being said,  Tyson was under the impression that the fighters should have been able to beat the ‘Problem Child’ but could not. What he meant was that Jake Paul was winning against professional fighters which is a difficult feat. “He’s beating people that he really should not be beating, right?” Tyson asked.
