Is Jake Paul a real boxer, or just a showman capitalizing on aging legends like Tyson?

72,000 fans were in attendance for what was expected to be a striking extravaganza between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. While Paul is still trying to prove himself as a legit ‘boxer’ with previous “freak” encounters, this bout topped it off but for all the wrong reasons.

While everyone was cheering for the boxing legend, the blunt reality of the entire affair was that a 58-year-old man was fighting a 27-year-old sensation in his athletic prime. And as the fight went on, it became clear that the snoozefest was nothing but a money-milking statement for the duo with Tyson losing convincingly on the cards. UFC legend and analyst Daniel Cormier was as disappointed as any Mike Tyson fan, with an added warning for the aging legend.

Jake Paul won against someone who is perhaps a couple of years away from his ultimate resting place. A massive three-decade difference between competitors in a combat sports affair isn’t fair by any means. Well, by the way, the crowd ended up booing in the last two rounds, looking like they accepted the bitter truth. People exited even before the scorecards were even read out! Well, that says a lot, and for Daniel Cormier, these fights are not just hurtful to Mike Tyson’s fans but also physically to the boxing legend.

Cormier said in his podcast, I didn’t know what a live sporting event would look like on Netflix. That was good though. The one thing I did know though was that Mike Tyson could be in over his head.” According to DC, he watched the training footage, and he thought that it was unfortunate everyone thought Tyson could fight as he used to. And he advised Tyson too, saying he needs to stop!

Have an interesting take?

Cormier mentioned that Mike Tyson has earned $20 million from this fight alone, and given that he already has a running business, he should retire once and for all. And where is the lie? Tyson had issues with bleeding ulcers in his stomach; he even had sciatica. Plus, two years ago he had to be pushed in a wheelchair, and in May this year, he threw up blood. So it’s obvious that he needs to stop! Well, it may be the end of the road for the boxing legend, but the path to superstardom seems to have just begun for his dancing partner in this fateful event.

Jake Paul’s next fight with Canelo Álvarez?

Jake Paul thinks ahead, that’s for sure! Even before he defeated Mike Tyson, he already had his sights on his future opponent—the legendary Canelo Alvarez. Paul now has an 11-1 record professional, and even though most believe that he isn’t a real boxer, fighting off the elderly recently sure proves that he can at least carry himself in the ring. But Alvarez has clarified his stance regarding Jake Paul, calling his fights more a “show” than a real sport. Paul wants to go next against the four-weight world champion for his cruiserweight title and cement his status as a legitimate boxer.

“He’s going to want a payday and I want to show the world all the stuff I’ve been talking about beating Canelo is actually true and I’ll have the biggest upset in the history of boxing,” Paul explained. “We’ll fight to really see who is the face because after this event, I’m going to be claiming it.” Paul added after his fight with Mike Tyson.

But the 34-year-old Canelo Alvarez dismissed Paul’s ambitions. Yet he is persistent that the Mexican might change his mind and fight him for a substantial payday. Given that thousands of people made it to the stadium to watch the bout and the millions Tyson made out of this fight, who knows, even Alvarez might reconsider his plans about the proposition.

As for Paul, he won’t stop pushing for it. Let us know if you think that Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez is the big fight in the making. Comment down!
