UFC welterweight Mike Perry spoke out via his Instagram and called his shot at arguably one of the most popular fighters on the roster. ‘Platinum’ fired away at Khamzat Chimaev and joined a long list of fighters who went after the Swedish-Russian fighter. Chimaev has taken the MMA world by storm with his record-setting tenure within the organization.

‘Borz’ has made his presence known accruing three wins in just 66 days and beat Johnny Walker’s record of 105 days. Also, Khamzat has fought at both middleweight and welterweight in his short UFC tenure. His most recent victory came on the final card at the UFC Apex over Gerald Meerschaert in just 17 seconds, but he hasn’t faced adversity yet.

The always exciting brawler, Perry is set to return to the octagon for November’s UFC 255 to fight Robbie Lawler. However, following Chimaev’s callout of the UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya, his focus seems to have diverted. Perry expressed an interest to entertain the 9-0 fighter before beginning his weight cut to 170-pounds.

A fight between the two would certainly be enticing for fight fans given the chaotic style that they bring. Mike Perry is a known commodity in the UFC and has consistently put on highly entertaining bouts. Moreover, he is never gun shy under the bright lights and will definitely take the fight to Chimaev.

Despite the exciting callout, it appears the UFC has other plans in motion for Chimaev. UFC President Dana White is high on the prospect and has touted him as a special athlete. After going on an impressive run in the company, a top-ranked opponent awaits ‘Borz’. However, there is no doubt that fighting Mike Perry would be a step in the right direction in bolstering his profile, and Chimaev is always ready to fight. Do you see the UFC booking this fight?
