Conor McGregor looks as sharp as ever ahead of his return this weekend at UFC 257 to fight Dustin Poirier in a lightweight clash. Fans are excited to see ‘The Notorious‘ back in action after a year, but it looks like it’s not only fans who are excited.
Rising UFC star Khamzat Chimaev recently took to Twitter to poke at McGregor and referred to ‘The Notorious’ as ‘Chicken’. The Russian had his scheduled fight against Leon Edwards fall out for the second time, as he couldn’t go to Fight Island after a positive COVID test.
McGregor provided no attention to those words. But, he had ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry in his defense, as Perry reminded Chimaev that it’s the latter that has been pulling out of fights recently. He wrote, “You’re the only chicken I see pulling out of fights.”

Chimaev and Perry fight around the same weight and ‘Borz’ is always keen to scrap. He will fight ‘Rocky’ Edwards in March, and Perry could be looking at securing a fight against the Swede. However, he believes the Chechen fighter doesn’t want his smoke, at all.

‘Borz’ is 3-0 in the UFC, having won 2 bouts at middleweight and only 1 at welterweight. But, he sits at #15 in the stacked 170 lbs division and will have the opportunity to fight a cream of the crop contender in Edwards. Despite that, he didn’t mind taking a shot at McGregor ahead of UFC’s biggest superstar’s return.

Conor McGregor wants to continue at lightweight for now
McGregor has fought in 3 different weight classes in his UFC stint. He has managed to gather knockout wins in all of them. However, he wants to conquer the 155 lbs division of the UFC now, as he believes his best version is at that weight class, and he never quite managed to establish himself there.

The former two-division champion is looking to recapture the lightweight gold. He ultimately wants the rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the opportunity to avenge his loss. Interestingly, it was ‘The Eagle’ who called McGregor ‘Chicken’ for the first time.
