UFC Vegas 69 was indeed a visual treat for the UFC community all around the world. The event paved the way for the audience to witness many unexpected victories. One of the best battles took place between Mayra Bueno Silva and Lina Lansberg in the women’s bantamweight division.
The preliminary fight gave Bueno Silva an opportunity to prove herself as one of the strongest fighters in the division. ‘Sheetara’ skillfully went for a kneebar submission to make sure that her opponent conceded in round 2. In the post-fight octagon interview, the Brazilian fighter expressed her future goals in the promotion.
She said the promotion should recognize her as fit to be a contender for the title shot. Furthermore, she remarked that she needs more victories for the title shot. However, to reach her destination, Sheetara wants to have worthy opponents like Julianna Pena and Raquel Pennington. When asked if she would like to fight Miesha Tate, the Brazilian said she will fight the former American bantamweight champion if she is ready for a bout. Following this conversation, Miesha Tate called out Sheetara for a fight in May.

Miesha Tate gives the green signal
Miesha Tate took to Instagram and posted a story where she wrote, “You looked good, @mayra_sheetara. May?” The former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion made sure that she appreciated the Brazilian fighter for her spectacular victory at UFC Vegas 69. Additionally, she expressed how she is looking forward to a bout between the two in May. Nonetheless, ‘The Cupcake’, at the moment, is facing a tumultuous time in her UFC fighting career.
After winning the title at UFC 196 in 2016 against Holly Holm via rear naked choke, she faced some unexpected defeats. Soon after the title win, she had to face the current women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes. She became unsuccessful in defending her title against the calculated moves of Nunes and lost the fight in the first round itself.

The only victory she earned in the last six years was against Marion Reneau on ESPN 26. In 2021, she lost against Ketlen Vieira at UFC Fight Night 198 via a unanimous decision. Her next fight continued the losing slump as the fight ended up in a decision in favor of her opponent, Lauren Murphy.
The prospective fight between Mayra Bueno Silva and Tate
When it comes to Mayra Bueno Silva, unlike Miesha Tate, she is going through the greatest time of her UFC career. ‘Sheetara’ earned three victories in a row, which has caught the attention of the MMA fandom toward her. ‘The Cupcake’ has a record of nineteen victories and nine losses, and Sheetara’s record stands at 10-2. ‘Sheetara’ surely has to engage in more fights to make herself fit for a title shot. Nonetheless, if Tate and Bueno Silva came face to face in May, it could indeed be a great fight.
