Miesha Tate recently returned to the UFC after almost a 5-year hiatus. ‘Cupcake’ returned at the UFC on ESPN 26 event, and faced Marion Reneau, and won that fight via a third-round TKO. After her victory, Tate made it clear that she is not just back for one fight and wants to win the UFC championship again.

Ever since Tate’s victory people have been speculating as to what she will do next. While Tate made it clear that she hopes to win the title, how and when she plans to do it remained a mystery. Now during a recent interview, Tate talked about the same, as ‘Cupcake’ revealed where she sees herself in a year’s time.

She said, “I see myself being a number 1 contender for sure and possibly right around that time lining myself up for that title fight. It kinds of depends on how quickly these next couple of fights go. But I think I should have at least 2 more before I’m fighting for a title.”

“So I know Holly’s been calling me out, and I’m more than willing to entertain that fight at some point. But I think right now I just got ranked No.8 which I’m stoked about. I am No. 8 now; I think I should fight someone in the 5 to 10 range, and then fight for a contender spot and then fight for the championship.”

“So a year from now I could have wrapped up that second fight and be looking for having won that contender fight and then fight or a title.”

‘Cupcake’ seemed clear about what she wants to do and hopes to challenge for the title in a year’s time.

Who will Miesha Tate fight next?

While there have been plenty of fighters, including Holly Holm, that have called out Tate. The former champion is clear that she wants to fight a 5 to 10 ranked opponent. This could mean a potential fight with someone like Yana Kunitskaya or Sara McMann.

Tate looked great when she faced Reneau at UFC on ESPN 26. The fighter looked to be in the best shape of her life, therefore fans would be eager to watch her back in action.
