Michel Pereira will be lighting up the Octagon at UFC 301 against Ihor Poteiria. Known for his incredible athleticism and displays of unique striking techniques, the Brazilian is currently riding high on a 7 fight win streak in the UFC. Originally scheduled to face Makhmud Muradov at the event, the opponents were switched for Pereira as Muradov had to withdraw from the event due to complications with an infection.

The Rio de Janeiro event will be a quick turnaround for Pereira as he recently secured a submission victory over Michał Oleksiejczuk at UFC 299 on March 9. And so,  as ‘Demolidor’ gears up to extend his winning streak further, let’s take a look and learn all we know about his personal life, his wife, and the controversy he was involved in with Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal in the past!

According to information available online, Michel Pereira’s wife, Gina Amir, is a celebrity jeweler and has her own store of luxury jewelry in California. She began her journey in the world of diamonds and jewelry at the age of 14 in Europe, and 5 years later, at age 19, secured a gemology license.

She then began a successful jewelry store in Germany, but later expanded and relocated to the United States to grow her business and make her mark in the world of high-end jewelry. In her website, it states that, “Gina’s greatest joy is to make every woman feel like the elegant, valuable treasure they are.”

Through her store and her creations, Gina continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of high-end jewelry, bringing beauty and sophistication to those who adorn her pieces.

Do Pereira and Amir have kids together?

Her comments could be highlighting Pereira’s victory over Petroski in his return to the 185 lbs division on the night. After dropping his opponent with a straight punch, ‘Demolidor’ followed up with vicious ground strikes to close out the show in the first round, providing a unique birthday memory for his son and family.

What happened between Gina Amir and Jorge Masvidal?

The controversy surrounding Michel Pereira, Gina Amir, and Jorge Masvidal began after Pereira secured a win over Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Vegas 55 in 2022. After securing a split-decision win, at the post-fight interview, Pereira was asked who he’d like to fight next and he claimed Masvidal is a name he’d be interested in due to a ‘personal’ issue between the two.

He stated, “He (Masvidal) sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the two hands together like ‘amen.’ He sent it to my wife. He didn’t send it to me. I’ve never actually crossed paths with him. I didn’t have a chance to ask him, so I figured I really want to understand. But I might as well understand inside the octagon, settle it over there.”

This led to ‘Gamebred’ responding by sharing a screenshot of a DM that he claimed he had received from Pereira’s wife in the first place and he just replied to her message. In a post made on X, Masvidal stated, “How crazy a world and how far has society fallen that this idiot @UfcPereira would use his wife  to hopefully 1 day get a paycheck and create a fake narrative to try and get a fight with me when clearly he sees she slid in my dm?”

However, the issue was resolved after Gina Amir took to social media to address the entire situation and stated that the account that messaged Masvidal was a business account. As such, she revealed, “…way more than 1 person has access to it. This is not even the way I would speak. Not to mention it is from years ago and before I even knew Michel.”

She ended the post by imploring the fandom and media to respect her and Pereira’s family life and wasn’t happy with the hatred that was being directed towards them. Ultimately, the issue seemed to have been addressed, emphasizing the importance of understanding the context before drawing conclusions in the world of mixed martial arts.
