Brazilian UFC star Michel Pereira is going to be featured at UFC 301, Rio de Janeiro, against the Ukrainian fighter, Ihor Potieria. Pereira is currently on a roll, with a seven-fight win streak, his last win being a phenomenal victory over Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 299. Although the Brazilian previously fought in the light heavyweight division, he decided to drop down to the middleweight category, after competing in the welterweight division. UFC 301 would be his second bout in the division, the last one against Makhmud Muradov being canceled.
Nevertheless, the hype around the fights is nothing but palpable. Without a doubt, ‘Demolidor’ has impressed the fight fans. But have you thought about his losses? Let’s take a look at Michel Pereira’s defeats in the realm of MMA.

Although Pereira has quite an impressive resume in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, his fights have also resulted in quite some losses. The Brazilian has faced only two defeats inside the Octagon. The first loss came in his second fight in the UFC against Tristan Connelly, backed by a unanimous decision.
Upon his victory, Connelly said, “He was the perfect opponent. Super-exciting, he likes to throw the rolling thunder, the front flip kick. It’s called rolling thunder, I got to steal his thunder tonight.” Pereira was dominated in the three-round fight. Despite the size difference, Connelly seemed to know the secret to defeating Pereira. “You can’t stop against him and you can’t back up against him,” he revealed in the post-fight press conference.

Pereira’s second loss came right after the defeat against Connelly. It was the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 167, against the dangerous Diego Sanchez. However, the fight was deemed peculiar by many fans. Why? ‘The Nightmare’ didn’t seem nightmarish at all. Although the Brazilian dominated the entire fight, he unfortunately lost the bout by disqualification. It was all because of an illegal knee that dropped Sanchez. Undeniably, the world was disappointed with Sanchez winning the bout despite him being on the receiving end of Pereira’s fury.
Has Michel Pereira lost outside the UFC?
Before he stepped inside the Octagon, Michel Pereira fought in promotions like Road FC, Serbian Battle Championship, HEAT, Kunlun Fight MMA, Fusion FC, Revelation FC, XFC International, and many more. Although he was victorious in most of his bouts, he faced defeat in nine of them.
These losses, while putting a question mark on his prowess, also show the adversities he has gone through. The losses not only depict the growth curve for a fighter but also show how well they taught the fighter. With each of his losses, Pereira has hailed himself higher in the realm of mixed martial arts. Now, he’s all about the wins, don’t you think?
