Page is a highly regarded striker and has some stunning knockouts under his belt. Moreover, fighting comes naturally to him as he has a background in kickboxing and karate before becoming a complete Mixed Martial Artist. He credits this foundation of fighting to the style that he possesses today.
In an interview with Michael Bisping, Page said, “It did lean into a lot of my strength training and stuff came from my Lau [Garbunder]. My flexibility, and my kicking ability, all came from the Lau [Garbunder] Kung Fu. And then, I was able to execute those moves in the kickboxing, and then the kickboxing kind of formed the style.”
Moreover, it bears a mention that even his family is ingrained in combat. According to Bleacher Report, he is the son of mixed-marital artist parents and it was his father who brought him into the world of combat sports. Not to mention, he is also the nephew of kung fu master, Stan Brown. Safe to say, fighting is in his blood and it is evident from his background.

Page displayed his strong fighting skills in the UFC as he took on the fight against Kevin Holland at UFC 299 and won via a unanimous decision. But did you know that he was a kickboxer before he entered the MMA realm? Let’s see how that helped him achieve success in the MMA world.
What fighting style does Venom use? How did he start fighting?
Before becoming a martial artist, Page was a freestyler kickboxer. As a freestyle kickboxer, his core area was working on techniques that increased his speed, agility, and overall striking ability. In addition, freestyle kickboxing is a type of martial art that would require a fighter to win on points.
However, according to Page himself, this foundation built great acumen in him, and in an interview with MMA Junkie, he said, “The positive for it is that your distancing for actually landing shots is increased. I can hit you from further away than most people are used to in MMA.”
That being said, there are several demerits to this style of fighting that he did not shy away from mentioning since one is not grounded and may lack power in his hands. However, one thing is for sure and it is that Page is a multi-faceted striker. But will it transpire in his next fights? Time will find out.
