Michael Chandler isn’t called ‘Iron’ just for the sake of it. While his explosive fighting style may resemble that of Mike Tyson, there’s another reason the moniker fits—his resilience. No matter the obstacles in his path, Chandler remains undeterred, always fueled by his signature mantra: “See you at the top.” From waiting nearly two years for a fight with Conor McGregor to finally moving on and facing Charles Oliveira—only to come up short—Chandler has endured a string of setbacks. But did that deter him? Not in the slightest.
Now, he’s set to lock horns with Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314, and he’s fired up to make history. Chandler is confident he can hand Pimblett his first UFC knockout loss, much like Ilia Topuria did to Max Holloway. Chandler believes his high-paced, explosive style will be too much for the verbose Englishman to handle.
In a recent video, he detailed his game plan: “Yeah, I truly believe, as I’ve said, that I don’t think he’s ever been hit by anybody even in the same stratosphere as me. I am going to put a pace on Paddy and pressure on Paddy like he has never felt before. He’s gonna try and stay away from me, and I’m gonna slowly and methodically and surgically walk him down until his heart rate gets so high that the lactic acid sets in and he starts second-guessing himself. He’s gonna be on his back foot, his back is gonna be close to the cage, and I’m gonna land a right hand or a left hook and put his lights out in the first couple of minutes.”

The conviction in Chandler’s eyes as he spoke was palpable—even through the screen. His dedication is undeniable, and his training speaks for itself. Just 18 days out from the fight, the former Bellator champion shared a training video showcasing his impeccable physique. But he’s not the only one putting in the work—Pimblett has also turned heads with his impressive weight cut and physique leading up to UFC 314. So, will Chandler be the first to knock ‘The Baddy’ out? One thing’s for sure—Carlos Prates is hoping he won’t.

Carlos Prates requested Michael Chandler not to knock out Pimblett, but why?
Carlos Prates is gearing up for the biggest challenge of his career as he prepares to face Geoff Neal at UFC 314. The surging welterweight has impressed with a perfect 4-0 start in the UFC, but ahead of his next fight, he had a playful request for Michael Chandler—don’t steal the show this time.
In a recent YouTube video by Prates, Chandler responded with confidence, saying, “I’m sorry to tell you this, but I’m gonna steal the show. You gotta have the attitude.” The Fighting Nerds export, known for his knockout power, had a lighthearted plea for Chandler, adding, “You were Bellator champ, you have a good contract in the UFC, now I’m trying to be a millionaire in Brazil. Please do a submission or something like that.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Chandler has had such an exchange. Back at UFC 306, while taking a picture together at The Sphere, Jon Jones jokingly asked Chandler to leave some of the spotlight for him at UFC 309. But as expected, Chandler didn’t back down, making it clear that he planned to steal the show once again. Now, with his highly anticipated bout against Paddy Pimblett approaching, Chandler has another opponent determined to keep him from shining.
