Former Bellator MMA lightweight champion, Michael Chandler looks to officially solidify his status as the #1 lightweight on the planet when he fights Charles Oliveira this weekend at UFC 262.

After a scintillating debut against Dan Hooker at UFC 257, ‘Iron’ is determined to bring the UFC gold to his family and to his son.

Ahead of the most important fight of his illustrious career as a professional, Chandler shared an emotional story about his adopted son, Hap. ‘Iron’ described the process he and his wife went through and how much their little boy means to them.

My wife, she always had it on her heart to adopt. We went through the process. Tons of paperwork, tons of background checks. We got a phone call that said congratulations. There is a little boy who fits your preferences perfectly.

“I saw a picture of him and I just started welling up with tears. And I said, ‘Babe, that’s my son’. Our son Hap is almost four years old, and he’s just the greatest little human being on Earth,” said Chandler.

He knows that that UFC lightweight title’s coming back home with us and I just can’t wait to bring it back to him,” he further added. Whether he can live up to his promises is something that remains to be seen.

Chandler might have fought just once in the UFC, but he has been one of the supreme lightweight fighters in the world for the past decade or so.

His achievements in Bellator are highly regarded by fans. There has never been a doubt that he is one of the best fighters on the planet. Now ‘Iron‘ has the opportunity to officially become the best 155 pounder on the planet.
