Michael Chandler is worried for Conor McGregor. The duo, slated to meet in the octagon on June 29 at the top of UFC 303, marking the return of the ‘Mac’ to the octagon after three years, do not like each other. At all! Chandler, for example, has vowed to break ‘Notorious’s “spirit” and “jaw” in their upcoming welterweight bout and is determined to retire the bombastic Irishman. But, after McGregor came out with a scathing tweet, targeting boxing superstar Ryan Garcia and UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, Chandler is concerned for the Irishman’s state of mind and believes that someone needs to ‘check on’ Mystic Mac.
Conor McGregor took to Twitter and fired off a heated salvo at “Ostarine heads” Ryan Garcia and Sean O’Malley in a now-deleted tweet, excoriating them for their conduct and advising them to “kill yourself”. Garcia defeated Devin Haney handily in their wildly entertaining WBC super lightweight boxing match last year. However, ‘King’ tested positive for Ostarine, a banned substance, after the bout, which has many questioning if the win should be overturned to a no contest.

O’Malley, who has been going back and forth with Garcia and has claimed he is en route to a boxing match with the superstar, has tested positive for Ostarine twice- in 2018 and 2019. While the former two-division champion went on to remove the tweet, the outburst had Chandler concerned for McGregor’s mental health. “Can somebody check on @TheNotoriousMMA? I woke up to him verbally assaulting 125lbers on social media – it’s a bad look, phone the PR team, stat!” he wrote.

But all this aside, fans and MMA experts alike are excited for the epic showdown between these two rivals!
Daniel Cormier sure UFC will make McGregor-Chandler a title bout
While the return of the UFC’s biggest superstar will certainly be a momentous occasion for the whole MMA world, former champion and UFC commentator Daniel Cormier feels that the UFC may sweeten it further- by throwing in a title.

“I believe that if they’re going to do a 165-pound division, it should have a name attached to the weight class that is so big that it draws people’s attention. Conor McGregor being that name. Michael Chandler, on the other hand, will benefit from being in the right place at the right time, where these guys would then fight for the super lightweight championship of the world, because that’s what I believe it is,” ‘DC’ voiced recently.
There have been rumors that the UFC is looking to drop the 170-pound welterweight division and replace it with two new divisions- one at 165 and the other at 175 pounds. While these have not been confirmed by the UFC, some, such as Cormier have advocated McGregor-Chandler be the latter’s inaugural title bout. What are your thoughts on ‘DC’s idea?
