Conor McGregor’s fateful return to the Octagon has been delayed. But that hasn’t stopped his next opponent, Michael Chandler, from taking up a fight in the co-main event in MSG. The entire world of mixed martial arts was left in disappointment when the Irishman was forced to pull out of the fight scheduled for June 29. Needless to say, ‘Iron’ was the man who had his dream of fighting McGregor shattered. But not anymore, because he has come up with an exciting announcement for the fighting community.
Chandler took to social media and shared a video of him announcing his next fight. And of course, it’s not against McGregor.

Chandler took to Instagram and finally revealed the date of his return to the Octagon. First off, he refused to react to McGregor’s tweets where he blamed ‘Iron’ for ditching the fight. “You are the most unreliable human being that has ever graced mixed martial arts,” he said targeting McGregor. Instead, he revealed that he was all set to land against Charles Oliveira.
Chandler said, “I’m gonna fight Charles Oliveira. Why am I gonna fight Charles Oliveira? Number 1, it’s a bada** fight. Number 2, it’s a rematch. It’s a redemption story for me. The dude who already stole from me. Rightfully so, in a fight, in a fair fight. He stole my dream, shattered my dreams of becoming UFC champion. Now I get the opportunity to fight Charles Oliveira, become the number 1 contender.”
He confirmed that he will fight Oliveira in the co-main event of the fight that Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic will headline, in November. Chandler said, “But here you have it. MSG, in November, me vs. Charles Oliveira, co-main event, and I’m really, really excited about it.”

The former Bellator lightweight champion went on to diss the Dubliner. He claimed that the only way McGregor could make a stylish comeback was if he could stay sober for a few days and train with utmost diligence. But with Chandler’s diss out on the internet, the ‘Mystic Mac’ couldn’t stay quiet.
‘The Notorious’ lashes back at ‘Iron’
McGregor didn’t waste a single moment to strike back at Chandler, following the #6 lightweight contender’s fight announcement. ‘The Notorious’ took to X and wrote, “Chandler saw that takedown getting stuffed and mauled and officially dipped. Little Fat Pu**y. I’m at the hard rock hotel Florida for the bare knuckle tonight. Got tested earlier today by DFSI. Give me my fu**ing date!”

Nevertheless, Chandler didn’t refuse to fight McGregor. He simply claimed that the former UFC double champion was not his next opponent, while he would be the one McGregor would fight next. All that the fighting community needs to do now, is wait and watch the story unfold. After all, the fighters need to conclude The Ultimate Fighter 31.
