Paddy Pimblett is a wild beast inside the cage with a vibrant personality outside it, which is perfect to attract fans’ attention. Naturally, MMA fans expect the best from him, so when he does not live up to the mark – as was evident from the fight against Jared Gordon – people become a little salty. Well, there’s a long story why the star grappler lost some fans while he gained momentum in the combat sports world. The Liverpudlian found himself in a little controversy back in 2022 when he won against Gordon at UFC 282. True Paddy fans cheered with blonde wigs on while there were ‘boos’ harmonizing with the cheers. “That was a close one,” Joe Rogan told him as he put a microphone towards Pimblett. “No, it wasn’t, no it wasn’t!” the fighter insisted. The ‘boos’ grew more rackety at this answer.

Since then, fans hate to see the Englishman win, per se. But is it going to be easy for Michael Chandler to defeat him at UFC 314?  Absolutely not. Even ‘Iron’s’ teammate and friend Gilbert Burns is aware of how dangerous Pimblett is inside the cage – with his latest performance against King Green enough to display his form. Pimblett put on a masterclass performance, submitting Green just more than three minutes into Round 1, and achieved another performance bonus other than a splendid victory.

In a recent video clip shared by Home of Fight, Chandler was seen training with Burns at Kill Cliff FC. While training, Burns spoke about his experience with Chandler’s opponent. He said, “Michael’s great, you know, like, fixing a guy is very tough. I had the honor to grapple with Paddy when I was in Manchester. Guy has high-level grappling, so the key to Michael is to keep the fight on the feet. If he has to grapple, if he has to take this guy out, take it out on the ground and pound. Cause we don’t wanna grapple the grappler.”

Unlike most veterans like Daniel Cormier, Paul Felder, and Rafael dos Anjos, who criticize Pimblett, Burns complimented his style. ‘The Baddy’ was praised by the BJJ expert previously as well. “I think he’s still super young and he’s going through the test,” Burns said on the JAXXON PODCAST. “He’s undefeated in the UFC. He beat a couple of good guys – Jared Gordon and now Tony.”

So ‘Durinho’ might be training and supporting Chandler, but he is in no way underestimating his opponent. Chandler, of course, is an entertainer every time he squabbles. An absolute unit, the Missouri native seeks to delight the audience and comes through every time. But Paddy Pimblett has the perfect plan to deal with the former Bellator champion.

Paddy Pimblett has the perfect way to defeat Michael Chandler

“He comes out trying to take your head off swinging overhands, left hooks, and that’s all anyone ever tried to do against me, trying to knock me out, and no one has ever knocked me out. Michael Chandler is not going to be the first person to do it,” ‘The Baddy’  predicted in an ESPN interview.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Paddy Pimblett silence his critics by taking down Michael Chandler, or will 'Iron' prevail?

Have an interesting take?

This fight is going to be equal parts entertainment and chaos. Pimblett seems to be ready for the explosiveness that ‘Iron’ is going to bring inside the cage. Just like how he fought and controlled the fight with King Green and Tony Ferguson, the Englishman claimed he would try to dissect Chandler from a distance.

“I’m going to kick him, keep him on the end of my range, and frustrate him. I do think I could land a knockout blow as he steps in and brings all his weight forward, leaning into a shot. I think I can knock him out. I also think I can TKO him with leg kicks, but I don’t think he’s going to try to take me down. He knows I’d submit him.” Pimblett declared.

Do you think this will work? Or will Chandler get the upper hand since his friend Burns knows all about Pimblett’s fight arsenal? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
