Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler currently find themselves at a crossroads. Both fighters eagerly await their impending clash, yet there is a notable lack of information from the UFC administration and Dana White regarding their fight. Despite widespread speculation that UFC 300 would serve as their ultimate battleground, the complete silence from the UFC has only intensified doubts about the likelihood of their bout.
McGregor hasn’t stepped into the ring since his leg in͏jury in the July 2021 bout against Dustin Poirier. Since then, the Irish fighter has noticeably bulked up,͏ reaching a peak weight of 190 pounds. “Mystic Mac” might be looking all mighty on his social media platforms now, but Chandler believes otherwise.

Conor McGregor’s return is uncertain, but the fighter is making efforts for a comeback. “Notorious” rejoined the USADA drug-testing pool several months ago. Chandler, on the other hand, has been patiently waiting for an official announcement. In the hubbub, various pictures of a buffed-up Conor McGregor have been flaunted throughout the internet. “Iron” thinks that those images are just a gimmick and nothing else.
While having a conversation with Steve-O’s Wild Ride podcast, Chandler exposed McGregor. “I said I wanted to fight him at 170lb because he was so big and he was so beefy… he was really really big so I was like. ‘Okay there’s no way he’s going to fight at 155lb.’ I don’t want to fight at 155lb. I weigh like 190lb, I would love to fight at 170lb so I figured I’d call him out at 170lb.” said Chandler.
He further explained that McGregor just likes to believe that everything is under his control, but the reality is quite different. Chandler explained that “Notorious” is not that big at all; it is just the camera angles that make him look big and mighty. “Truly, I’m bigger than Conor. He’s not that big at all. He looks big, he’s got really great angles and really great camera photography work and lighting in all of his photos and stuff,”
Chandler’s observation of McGregor might have been a bit rough, but his frustration is palpable considering that his patience is waning. Down in the conversation, Chandler explained how he would feel if McGregor ducks him.

In the course of the interview, Chandler was asked about instances in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) history where the coaches didn’t engage in a fight themselves. ‘Iron’ highlighted an interesting fact. He explained that this incident was bizarre. Steve-O also inquired about his opinion on his impending clash with McGregor, and Chandler emphasized that this fight is important to him.
He explained, “It looks really bad on everyone’s part if Conor comes back and doesn’t fight me. Conor can try to come back and act like he runs the show and say ‘I want to fight this guy, I want to fight that guy.” He further explained that his manager would want exactly that because fighting him is not a wise decision.
