Tony Ferguson, once known as a powerhouse and one of the most feared fighters in the UFC, has hit rock bottom with back-to-back losses. Despite being in the running for coaching against Conor McGregor on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’, the former lightweight champion can’t seem to find his footing in the octagon. This recent downturn was a hot topic on Michael Bisping‘s latest podcast, where he and Anthony Smith weighed in on Ferguson‘s fall from grace. Smith even shared his theory about why Ferguson has been on a downward spiral, and if it’s true, it could mark the end of an era for UFC fans.
It’s a case of ‘what goes up, must come down’ for the former fighter as he tries to get back on track and prove he’s still got the fire to compete at the top level.

The time is catching up with Tony Ferguson
In the latest episode of their podcast, Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith went on a fact-finding mission to uncover the root of Tony Ferguson‘s recent struggles in the UFC. After much digging, they came to a rather sobering conclusion. It appears that the wear and tear of years of hard-fought battles in the octagon have finally caught up with ‘El Cucuy’, and his once-dominant fighting style has taken a real beating.
Bisping said, “He’s lost five fights in a row. Love Tony. I’m not sh*tting on him… Five fights in a row, but to the absolute best.”
He further added, “Is (Conor) McGregor going to be the guy to give him number six? What do you reckon?” Responding to this, Anthony Smith came up with a theory that could perhaps be the reason for the 38-year-old’s downfall.
Smith said, “Well, I think that father time is a part of this. It matters. He’s ageing. He’s got a lot of miles and I’m not trying to call Tony some beatable man, but everyone’s run come to an end.”

The competition could give him a chance to ‘get back in the driver’s seat’ and show the world that he’s still got what it takes to compete at the top level. On the other hand, it could also be a real feather in Conor McGregor‘s cap, as he continues to cement his legacy as one of the biggest names in UFC history.
