The legendary heavy metal band, Metallica, has been changing the world with their music for decades and still continues to do so. James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich formed the iconic band in 1981 in Los Angeles.

Metallica presently has over ten studio albums and 37 singles to their credit, which have earned them many prestigious honors. From 23 nominations, the band has received nine Grammy Awards. Metallica is one of the most commercially successful bands in history.

Metallica has recently committed to performing at the upcoming Triller combat sports event. The Triad Combat Series sponsored by Triller Fight Club will be held at Arlington’s Globe Life Field. A concert of the heavy metal legends, Metallica, will then follow it. Metallica’s lead guitarist, Robert Trujillo, recently spoke with MMAJunkie ahead of their appearance this Saturday.

In the interview, Robert Trujillo spoke about a variety of topics and showed his love for MMA and boxing.

Well, for me it’s pretty exciting. Because I almost feel like the type of music that we do, that Metallica does kind of warrants itself into sort of the combat sports world.”. You know I’m a big fan of MMA and actually boxing.” said Trujillo.

“I grew up watching a lot of the classic matches through the 70s and the 80s. And I watched early MMA and I don’t know man. I could always sort of relate the two universes. You know, between edgy music and just edgy sporting events. You know stuff with kind of that attitude and that presence is exciting. So I think it’s a perfect fit,” he added.

What to expect before the Metallica concert?

In the world of combat sports, triad combat is a fresh concept. Triller is known for making thrilling fights, and combining that with Metallica will be a treat for fans. The contest will have new rules as well as a new triangle-shaped cage. It will also have new regulations that are a cross between boxing and MMA.

Renowned fighters such as Frank Mir, Mike Perry, and Kubrat Pulev will compete in the event. While MMA fighters will benefit from a variety of elements, and so will the boxers. Throwing knees will be illegal, and fighters will not be able to throw kicks or use their legs. Holding opponents in a chokehold is also illegal.
