Holly “The Preacher Daughter” Holm is one of the most accomplished fighters in women’s MMA. The former bantamweight champion is now set to take newly signed UFC star, Kayla Harrison, at the historic UFC 300 event. And Holm’s career has been nothing but a rollercoaster ride with ups and downs.

Unlike any other moniker, Holly Holm has a rather unique nickname. The MMA community and she herself likes to call herself ‘The Preacher’s Daughter. As the name indicates, her nickname is something related to her father and the church. Holm’s father, Roger Holm is a man of god, a minister at the Edgewood Church of Christ.
So it’s kind of evident that Holm got her nickname from her father but interestingly this was not the case when she initially started competing. In a conversation with the media, Roger Holm asserts that she used to be called by a different name.
“At first they wanted to call her ‘Holly Hottie’ ‘Holly Hollywood’ or something like that. She said, ‘I don’t want to be known for that part of it,'” Roger said. “So I said, ‘Well, you’re a preacher’s daughter.’ And she said, ‘That’s it. Just call me the Preacher’s Daughter,'” said Roger Holm.
Holm is riding a one-fight winning streak and has already made a name for herself in the UFC but according to her, Harrison might act as a challenge to her.

Holm is excited about her match on UFC 300
Holly Holm is about to face someone who has two gold medals in judo in the Olympics and the presume might be immense on her but one must not forget that ‘The Preacher daughter’ became champion by dethroning Rona Rousey back in 2015 who was also a Judo bronze medalist and Holm’s seems to be unfazed by the challenge set by Harrison.
She’s going to come in with her best striking,” Holm said. “I came from striking and I have evolved into a mixed martial artist. She came from judo, that type of background, and evolved to become a mixed martial artist. I definitely think she’s improved in her standup. It’s not something she started with just like I didn’t start with wrestling or grappling or anything like that.”
