Former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo spoke to ‘The Schmo’ on their joint podcast about training with Jon Jones. The MMA world was surprised to see ‘Triple C’ join hands with Jon Jones, who came out to Fight Ready gym in Arizona. During the period both men were together, they were extremely active on social media and continually posted about their training.
Both men are at opposite ends of the scale in terms of weight classes, however, they are both legacy fighters. Cejudo pulled back the curtain and revealed details about their training and he exalted the pairing as one of the greatest in the sport. Given their accolades across the umbrella of combat sports, it’s hard to deny that both men are synonymous with greatness.

“We’re out here. We scouted video. I’m teaching him positions man, we’re on the same page. I believe me and Jon Jones will be the greatest combination of athlete-coach that the mixed martial arts world has ever seen.”
“Jon’s going to be coming out to Phoenix, a few days at a time per week and we’re going to just be training the different situations. You have to understand, Jon Jones is a whole nother animal, he’s a whole nother creature. He’s able to come out two-three days and really pick up.”

Where does Jon Jones go from here?
Jon Jones is in an interesting place professionally as he’s not competed since February 2020. ‘Bones’ Jones relinquished his light heavyweight title and had decided to move up to heavyweight in a bid to become a double champion. Despite his bulking effort being comprehensive, fans are yet to see Jones actually compete in the weight class.

There is a multitude of interesting match-ups that could come together for Jones as he’ll likely fight for gold immediately. He’s primed to face-off against the winner of Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane once they fight at UFC 270.

Jones has all the physical attributes to lay waste to the division and conquer yet another weight class for himself. However, the power differential will be the biggest factor that fans look out for when he finally makes his debut.
