So, here they are up in Canada, ready for their showdown. Surprisingly, the Canadian vibes seem to have worked some magic, softening the tension between Du Plessis and Strickland. However, when the video gained some traction, Strickland had to come forward to clear the doubts around their friendship rumors.

Du Plessis and Strickland ͏were caught on video having a friendly chat an͏d sharing a genuine hug—an unexpected moment. ͏The clip also captures Du Plessis introducing his ͏girlfriend to Strickland, adding a warm touch to their unplanned camaraderie.

The challenger greeted the champion with a casual “Hey, how’s it going, man? Had a good trip?” Strickland, in turn, asked Du Plessis if the lady accompanying him was his girlfriend. The three engaged in a friendly conversation that concluded with expressions of gratitude and well wishes for the weekend. After witnessing their smooth embrace and friendly chit-chat, fans were in shock. They accused both of the fighters of faking it, however, seems like Strickland has something else on his mind.

After the backlash, Strickland came forward to assert that the fans need not worry as he and Du Plessis would go for the kill on the 20th. The fighter took to his Instagram handle to add a story. He reshared the video of their interaction with a single caption that said “Make no mistakes me and Dricus are going to end each other this Saturday.”

In some behind-the-scenes discussions, Strickland and Du Plessis seemed to have reached a gentleman’s agreement on not taking any shots below the belt while on the mic. In the clip, Strickland can be heard calling the South African a ‘solid dude.’ Regardless, their showdown is expected to go hard, as clarified by the champion. Nonetheless, one thing is certain: Strickland’s mental state is still astute after all of the tension and Daniel Cormier believes in it too.

Even though Sean Strickland seemed fired up before Saturday, even going to the extent of threatening to stab Du Plessis if he brought up his past again, Cormier anticipates the champion to maintain composure during his fight against the South African͏ sensation.

The Hall of Famer said, “I think that we, as a sport, overlook how mentally tough Sean Strickland is. Because we talk about all of the things from the past, some of the absurd things that he might say, but the moment he gets into the octagon, he stays the course. He was talking about Israel Adesanya and dogs and all kinds of crazy stuff in the build to the last fight.” Cormier said on his ESPN show “DC & RC.”
