Mayra Bueno Silva is on the cusp of becoming a UFC superstar. With her exciting striking-first fighting style, which has already earned her two Performance of the Night and two Fight of the Night honors in her nine fights in the promotion so far, she is emerging as a fan favorite.
The ferocious Brazilian will take on Macy Chiasson, who has a similar record to hers, at the re-shuffled UFC 303 PPV at the T-Mobile Arena this weekend. Ahead of their much-awaited bout, let us take a look at Silva’s tattoos.

What do Mayra Bueno Silva’s tattoos mean?
Tattoos are common among mixed martial artists and give them a chance to express themselves and what is important to them. Silva is no exception, having multiple tattoos on her body. She has, however, been more restrained than many fighters who have tattoos and has confined all her tattoos to one part of her body.

Mayra Bueno Silva has distinctive tattoos all over her right shoulder and arms that go right up to her wrists. On her right collarbone, ‘Sheetara’ has a pair of red boxing gloves inked on it, conveying her commitment to being a martial artist. Her right shoulder to bicep is emblazoned with what seems like a pair of intertwining snakes with roses instead of heads on a patterned background.
Although this is pure speculation, this may be a reference to her and her professional fighter girlfriend being as sweet as the proverbial rose but being as deadly as a snake at the same time. Her third and only other tattoo is of flames going up from her wrists to her forearm, a clear reference to the power and strength she carries in her right hand. Meanwhile, having made a name for herself in MMA, there was a time when she might have had to quit fighting altogether.

When Silva’s mother wanted her daughter to quit MMA
Earning a UFC contract means an opportunity to be the best and win the title in the biggest MMA platform in the world. But for Mayr Bueno Silva, things were the opposite. When she earned her contract, her mother would not understand what a career in MMA looked like and when she made her mark in Dana White‘s promotion, ‘Sheetara’s mother would ask her to find a job, which appeared to be a funny instance for the bantamweight contender.
“My mom doesn’t understand much about sports, she has no idea what the UFC means… When the Contender fight was over, she said, ‘OK, you won. Cool. Now go find a job,'” Mayra Bueno Silva told MMA Fighting. Well now, ‘Sheetara’ has emerged as one of the top contenders in the bantamweight division so it’s safe to say that continuing her MMA career instead of searching for another job worked out well in the end.
