The UFC 258 pay-per-view next month has a new co-main event. Maycee Barber will face Alexa Grasso in a clash of contenders in the women’s flyweight division. The second pay-per-view of the year is set to be headlined by the welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns.

The 22-year-old, Barber, will return to the Octagon for the first time since losing to Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246. Also known as ‘The Future’ the Roufusport academy trainee has finished 7 of her 8 victories. A Dana White’s Contender Series alumni, Barber made her first UFC appearance in 2018 and won 3 consecutive bouts by T/KO before losing to Modafferi.

A seven-fight UFC veteran, Alexa Grasso will fight for the first time since her win over Ji Yeon Kim in August 2020. The former Invicta FC fighter has a record of 4-3 in the UFC. She will look to build on her previous triumph as another one will propel her towards the elite of the division.

Both fighters will look to make the most of the co-main event spot too, as it will definitely gravitate more attention to their bout. A win will be beneficial for either lady, but a loss is something both won’t consider.

Usman vs Burns will headline UFC 258

After the first pay-per-view of the year had no title fight, the UFC is back to their usual norm of headlining pay-per-views with title fights. Welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, will defend his throne against former teammate and training partner, Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns.

The Nigerian Nightmare‘ is a man on a mission, as he seems certain to cement his legacy as the greatest welterweight of all time. His resume certainly speaks for his case. Yet another win over Burns will take him one step forward to achieving that status.
