“Max Would Be in a Wheelchair”- Fans Predict Violent Outcomes for Max Holloway as UFC Star Throws His Name to Face the Winner of Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje After UFC 291

UFC fans are getting ready for war. Come 29 July, the UFC Octagon will see two of the most fearsome, resilient, and skilled lightweight fighters battle it for the highly acclaimed UFC BMF title. Lightweight stars Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje are headlining the UFC 291 main event and fans cannot contain their excitement.

The latest fan to have joined the bandwagon is UFC Featherweight fighter Max Holloway. He has said that he is extremely excited about the BMF title match. He further revealed how Poirier vs. Gaethje is the perfect BMF match that one could have thought of. Although he is from a different weight class, Holloway has mentioned that he is excited about fighting for the BMF belt as well, now that it is being fought for at 155.

Although Max Holloway moving to the Lightweight division will prove to be exciting news, the Featherweight fighter already has his work cut out for him. On 26 August, UFC Fight Night will feature Max Holloway fighting Chan Sung Jung, The Korean Zombie in the main event bout.

Featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski is planning on fighting the Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev for the second time. Taking this into consideration, Max Holloway’s ‘potential’ climb to the UFC Lightweight division might see the two engaged in a fourth fight. Volkanovski came extremely close to defeating Islam Makhachev in their last fight. Can Holloway put up a fight of that caliber? Nevertheless, the former UFC Featherweight champion outlined his desire to procure the BMF belt.

“It’s for the BMF belt, if you make any fight for the BMF belt, this the fight. I wanna throw my name out in that hat sooner or later now that the BMF belt is around 155 (pounds). That would be cool. I would love to fight either of these guys just for fan purposes. This is a fan fight. This is a huge fight, bro,”  said Holloway.

 If he chases after the BMF belt, it will be either against Justin Gaethje or Dustin Poirier. His fight history against Poirier doesn’t really reflect well on him. Nevertheless, the UFC community considers it an exciting bout.

Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier are going to make July a memorable night for all UFC fans. What’s more, is that the two will be fighting for the esteemed and iconic BMF title. The last BMF title winner was who defeated Nate Diaz to claim the throne. Holloway outlining his desire has sparked excitement among the MMA faithful.

Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway have fought twice – once at Lightweight and once at Featherweight. Both times, Poirier was the last man standing. Fans remembered how these fights turned out and seemed quite skeptical about Holloway fighting Poirier.

Some fans grilled Holloway for having lost to Featherweight supremo thrice (last defeat at UFC 276), insinuating that he would flourish in Lightweight more as compared to a division that has Volkanovski as the reigning champ.
