Walkout songs in combat sports can be more than just a part of an entrance. For Max Holloway, his entire UFC Singapore outing last year, from the walkout to the knockout, had a deeper, more personal meaning. As he prepares to go once more unto the breach at UFC 300 to face Justin Gaethje, we will take a look at the Hawaiian’s walkout song and what it means to him.
Max Holloway rocks the Hawaii flag with great pride every time he walks into the Octagon and talks about his culture every chance he gets. The former UFC featherweight champ paid homage to the loss of lives that his people had at the fires of Maui, as he made sure to bring his people along with him in his fight against ‘The Korean Zombie‘ at UFC Fight Night Singapore. He even dedicated his walkout song to the people of Maui.

At his fight against Chan Sung Jung, Holloway walked out to the song, ‘Hawaiian Kickboxer’ by Moke Boy. ‘Blessed’ chose this song as a way to pay respect to the people who fell victim and the heroes who were doing all they could to help Hawaii from the destruction caused by the flames of Maui. This track has been a constant in almost all of Holloway’s walkouts, a tribute of sorts to his native Hawaii.
Holloway had also worn red shorts for the first time in his career for his fight at UFC Singapore, in solidarity with the people in Lahaina. The wildfires in Hawaii have left over 115 people dead and more than 1100 missing at the time of his fight.
Fueled by the desire to represent them on a global stage, the 32-year-old managed to win his fight against “The Korean Zombie” with an ecstatic walk-off KO in the 3rd round.
While UFC Singapore was personal for the UFC star, Max Holloway has also mixed his walkout songs quite a bit. Here are some more walkout songs that the former UFC champ has walked out to.
Holloway’s other walkout songs
At UFC 218 (2017) against former UFC champ Jose Aldo, the Hawaiian walked out to the area to a remix of ‘Blessings’ by Big Sean and ‘Hawaiian Kickboxer’ by Moke Boy. Earlier that year, Holloway became the undisputed UFC featherweight champ after unifying the title against the ‘King of Rio.’ at UFC 212.
For his fight against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 276, Holloway walked out to ‘Running Up That Hill’ by hate bush, followed by Hawaiian Kickboxer.’ At UFC 231, Holloway used “Game Over” by Lil’ Flip, “Nonstop” by Drake, “Hawaiian Kickboxer” by Moke Boy.
For his fight against Arnold Allen at UFC on ESPN 44. Holloway rocked “Forgiveless” by SZA ft. Ol’ Dirty Bastard, followed by the usual Moke Boy mix.
