Max Holloway and Conor McGregor are two of the most popular fighters in the world. While Max Holloway is a fan favorite, McGregor is a polarizing figure, an expert at getting a reaction out of people.
Holloway right now is preparing to take on his next challenge, which is Yair Rodriguez. The featherweights will take on each other at UFC Fight Night 197. ‘Blessed’ is the number 1 ranked featherweight, and for many, already the contender for the title. However, he seems more interested in a fight with ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor.
To add to the potential fight, Holloway was promoting his merchandise before the fight. McGregor took a shot at him, and said, “Light work.”

Holloway didn’t take kindly to the comment and immediately fired back. He said if they fight, he would walk out on a song by DJ Francesco. That is the DJ McGregor allegedly punched in Italy. He said, “Light beats. My walkout for our March. Should get you hyped to fight.”
Max Holloway vs. Conor McGregor – An exciting matchup
Holloway and McGregor first met in a featherweight clash backing 2013. The Irishman dominated the fight and won via a unanimous decision. However, since then, the Hawaiian has become one of the best fighters in the world. He is a former UFC featherweight champion and, according to many, the greatest featherweight of all time.

Conor McGregor, on the other hand, has become the biggest star in the sport. Since their last fight, he became a two-division UFC champion and even tried his hand at boxing. He definitely is the biggest star but is currently sidelined because of injury. ‘The Notorious’ recently underwent surgery for his injury and is back in training. He would be targeting a return somewhere in early or mid-2022.
Holloway recently, while talking to Ariel Helwani, suggested that he’s always on the shortlist to fight Conor McGregor. He said, “Obviously, Conor wants Dustin, or he wants Nate or whatever. Anybody at 45 or 55 after those guys, my name pops up. You can go call Hunter right now. Ask him who can sell numbers with Conor. They are going to drop my name all the time. So, at the end of the day, I’m always on the shortlist for Conor.”

At this moment, it looks like a fight between the two is eventually going to happen. However, Holloway can’t be distracted from his next fight, and if he gets a W, a title shot against Alexander Volkanovski would be waiting.
