UFC featherweight fighter, Giga Chikadze, earned a statement win at UFC Fight Night: Reyes vs Prochazka. ‘Ninja’ folded Swanson with a nasty kick to the liver in the first round of the co-main event. He finished the fight and called out former UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway.
Chikadze believes that a clash between him and Holloway will be a banger, but he also acknowledged that ‘Blessed’ is the no. 1 contender of the division. And as a former champion, the Hawaiian is looking to get a shot at the championship again. So, ‘Ninja’ also had a backup opponent in mind. That is none other than Holloway’s last opponent, Calvin Kattar.

“You know there’s a guy, one of the best performance in featherweight division. Max Holloway, man, it will be honor to fight you. Because you are one of the best. I really wanna fight you and compare myself with you. If not, this fight would not happen, maybe, your former opponent Calvin Kattar, I can fight him and then trumpling to you,” said Chikadze.
“I know you’re a no. 1 contender and you’re waiting for title. You have been the champion many times. So, I mean, yeah, you’re waiting for exciting fights, I am here man. I am the new guy in the division,” he added.
Considering where both fighters currently stand in the division, it is unlikely that Chikadze will get Holloway. However, a fight against Kattar seems feasible as ‘The Boston Finisher‘ is looking to bounce back from his loss against ‘Blessed‘.

As mentioned earlier, Holloway is in a much higher spot of the featherweight division of the UFC. However, ‘Ninja’ is now 6-o in the UFC and there’s no doubt he has put in the work to deserve a top-ranked opponent next.

So, a fight against Kattar certainly makes sense for the looming contender. It will present both fighters the opportunity to establish themselves as a cream of the crop contender of the 145lbs division of the UFC.
