Marlon Vera has garnered quite a bit of attention every single time he stepped into the Octagon. Even though the entire arena cheers his name as he walks in, his wife and kids are indeed the ones with the loudest cheer. Needless to say, it is with their support that the mixed martial artist has come this far in his professional MMA career.
Before Vera went to war against Rob Font at a UFC Fight Night in 2022, he told the UFC that his wife and family were fully behind him for his bout. That does not change as he heads for his title bout against O’Malley. Here’s more about his relationship with his wife.

Maria Paulina Escobar and Marlon Vera got married around 2011, but the exact details of how they met haven’t been made quite clear. Vera was 18 when he married Paulina Escobar, who was a year younger than him at the time. She is a social media influencer, and her posts reach hundreds of thousands of followers every day. ‘Chito’ has been very open about how his wife has pushed him ever forward in his career and urged him to follow his passion for MMA.
“When I left my house, I didn’t have more than six grand… (I told my wife) my family will support you. Your family will support you. But if I stay here, we’re going nowhere. A good wife means so much… She was able to stay with our two kids by herself and just wait for me,” he told Yahoo Sports.
“She was a year younger than me, but my wife has been a huge pillar in my career… She’s one of those women that are born to be a mother, that are born to be a wife. … Not everyone is lucky to have a great woman beside them,” he told MMA Fighting in 2016.

How many children do Marlon Vera and Maria Paulina Escobar have?
Marlon Vera’s son, Jose Ignacio, was born in 2015 and his youngest, Elaina, was born in 2018. In the same year, Vera’s oldest daughter, Ana Paula, went through surgery for her congenital neurological condition called Moebius Syndrome.
The condition paralyzes facial muscles and impairs eye movement as well. Vera found much help from a GoFundMe campaign where he was able to raise about $19,000 for his daughter’s surgery. Now Ana Paula can smile and even Vera can see the world as a kinder place. “It was a goal of mine and a goal of my wife’s, my son’s too, who wants to see his sister smile, so it was a family goal,” Vera said about it all.
