With the Meta CEO extending his support to ‘The Great’, Dana White opened up on his thoughts about Zuckerberg accompanying the former featherweight champion during the main event.

Mark Zuckerberg has been friends with Alexander Volkanovski for a while. As such, with such a fiery build-up to the main event of UFC 298, he did not want to miss out on witnessing ‘Volk’s sixth title defense. Besides cornering the former featherweight champion, Zuckerberg even walked out with him to the Octagon, and Dana White later revealed how that came to fruition. Let’s see what he had to say.

Alexander Volkanovski requested Dana White for Mark Zuckerberg’s company

During the post-fight press conference, a journalist asked Dana White whose idea it was for Mark Zuckerberg to walk out with Alexander Volkanovski to the Octagon for the main event. The UFC CEO revealed that it was ‘The Great’s idea, and he asked for it, and it’s not a novel thing about the UFC. White said, “Volk asked to walk [out] with him [Zuckerberg]… People ask me about that type of stuff.”

Furthermore, Dana White mentioned that having an opportunity to attend UFC events is an experience of a lifetime. He claimed that there is no other experience that can match being in the arena to watch UFC fights, especially a fight that involves a top star like Alexander Volkanovski.

“When you have the opportunity to come to one of these fights and sit in the crowd… then to stand where I stand for a face-off when you got these big fights, it’s without a doubt one of the most unique and incredible things to do in your lifetime if you’re a huge fan,” Dana White added. Not only that, the 54-year-old also answered the questions surrounding a possible fight for Mark Zuckerberg in the UFC, especially against Elon Musk.

In 2023, the world was buzzing with the possibility of an MMA fight between tech billionaires, Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg. As such, even Dana White jumped on the bandwagon, expressing his wish to promote the fight. However, that did not happen, and when the 54-year-old was asked about a possible fight for Zuckerberg in the UFC, he did not have any plans for the Meta CEO. White further stated, “I don’t know [about Zuckerberg fighting in the UFC]. I know he wants to fight, and he loves this sport… he’s super passionate about it, brings fighters out all the time to train.”

Nevertheless, Dana White loves Mark Zuckerberg’s passion for the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC. He also mentioned that seeing someone like the Meta CEO showing such an interest in what his promotion has to offer only encourages him to keep holding bigger and bigger events. “When I see people like that, like Zuckerberg, love this thing as much as they do, it’s fun, it’s awesome,” White added.

It seems unlikely that someone as big of a personality as Mark Zuckerberg would fight professionally inside the Octagon. Moreover, his company even issued a statement recently where they mentioned that they were not in favor of the Meta CEO engaging in martial arts.
