Colby Covington‘s return after a year-long layoff didn’t turn out to be the triumphant return he’d hoped for. In a completely one-sided outing, ‘Chaos’ got absolutely battered by surging 170-pounder, Joaquin Buckley. Following his loss at UFC Tampa, an AI-doctored image of Covington popped up on social media of him working in a McDonald’s joint, which came under the attention of Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.

There were quite a few UFC fighters who took digs at Colby Covington after his recent loss – from Jon Jones to Belal Muhammad. Meanwhile, ‘Trailblazer’ Kevin Holland also joined the conversation as he shared that AI-doctored image of ‘Chaos’ on Threads, with the caption: “bag fumbled.” Guess what? Mark Zuckerberg came across that post, and unexpectedly, threw a jibe Covington’s way.

“Amazing and welcome to Threads,” wrote Mark Zuckerberg. Now, it’s not clear if he was taking a dig at the former interim champion or not, but for the UFC masses on social media, it appeared to be a direct jab at Colby Covington, given that he didn’t have a high opinion of the 40-year-old tech billionaire.

Colby Covington is one of the few MMA fighters who have more than a million followers on Instagram. However, he recently claimed to have more than 5 or 6 million followers, but it appears that Mark Zuckerberg and Co. have restricted his account in an attempt to “censor” him. “I’ve had a million followers for five, six years, but they won’t let me get above that million threshold; they literally censor me,” Covington stated before his fight against Joaquin Buckley.

The former interim champion further added, “Some of my fans and followers be like, ‘Dude, we don’t see your stuff here, your content doesn’t come up.’ So, it kind of sucks.” If we know the UFC, it’s all about free speech and freedom of expression, but Colby Covington claims that’s not the case when it comes to Meta platforms. Moreover, the 36-year-old even ranked Instagram below Elon Musk‘s X.

“[Instagram is] even worse [than X], man. Zuckerberg is a communist. He hates f—-ing America and anybody that chooses to express their free speech,” Colby Covington stated over a year ago. After Zuckerberg’s recent dig at Covington, it seems unlikely that the UFC star would ever attempt to mend fences with the Meta CEO.
