The 36-year-old Brazilian strawweight has lost to some of the biggest names in the women’s roster in the UFC. Before losing her first UFC fight, Marina Rodriguez had drawn twice. Then she stood across from Carla Esparza inside the Octagon in 2020. That fight was Rodriguez’s first loss, where the former champion somehow managed to edge past her fellow Brazilian counterpart with a split decision in a highly competitive fight. Following that loss, Rodriguez went on a 4-fight winning streak before succumbing to another loss.
In November 2022, Marina Rodriguez took on Amanda Lemos, and that went all three rounds. The latter showcased a great performance and knocked out the 36-year-old in the final round, in a fight that looked like it would have gone to distance. Rodriguez suffered another loss following the Lemos fight and succumbed to a unanimous decision defeat to Virna Jandiroba. Nevertheless, the 17-3-2 fighter has her sights on the strawweight title as she gears up to face Jessica Andrade.
Rodriguez’s aim is to win the 115-pound title!
After her loss to Virna Jandiroba, Marina Rodriguez added another win to her name against Michelle Waterson-Gomez in her last UFC fight. But a couple of days before that fight, she made her intentions clear that despite losing three times in her UFC career; she is still looking forward to fighting for the strawweight title and winning it, something that she never stops thinking about.

“The UFC title never left my head. There’s a reason why I’m here. I’m not here just to fight. I’m not here just for the money. The reason why I continue to do this is to be a champion,” Marina Rodriguez told ‘MMA Junkie‘. Given that she will be fighting a former champion on April 13th, will a win help her get into title contention?
