Fighters are always looking for ways to expand on their earnings, especially since the UFC banned athletes from showcasing sponsors on their fight shorts in 2015. Many fighters do the smart move of investing in ventures that will bring them future returns. The biggest example of this is Conor McGregor, who started the Proper No.12 Whiskey brand, eventually selling it to Proximo Spirits for a fortune. However, not all fighters manage to hit their targets, and the biggest example of this is Khamzat Chimaev‘s infamous cryptocurrency scam, which the Chechen fighter allegedly didn’t know was a pump-and-dump scheme.
Naturally, this drew a lot of ire from fans, especially for those who invested money in the Chechen’s crypto venture, only for its value to eventually drop to zero. Sensing an opportunity to stir drama, three-time title contender and former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington decided to berate the Chechen fighter. Let’s see what ‘Chaos’ had to say about Chimaev’s crypto scam.

For the uninitiated, the crypto scam that ‘Chaos’ is talking about is the SMASH meme coin which Chimaev promoted when he was having a downtime due to chronic illnesses, back in July. There was a lot of promotion going on in Chimaev’s social media handles which would later prove to be a problem for him.

Khamzat Chimaev’s ‘SMASH’ meme coin is a form of cryptocurrency that originated from a famous internet meme, inspired by ‘Borz’ proclamation to ‘smash everybody’ when he first broke into the UFC. Before ‘Borz’ made his promotions, Chimaev had even taken suggestions from fans on where to invest his millions of earnings when it came to cryptocurrency.
