“I’m really proud of myself, because of the hard work, I’m here fighting for the UFC. Again, it’s in Mexico with my people, so of course I’m excited, and I’m going to make a spectacular fight” – This is what 15-2-0 fighter Manuel Torres said ahead of UFC Fight Night 237 earlier this year. Now he is looking to continue his stellar run at UFC Noche.

Torres made his UFC debut in 2022 May after a successful Contender Series outing  the previous year. Since then, he has been finishing opponents left, right, and center. However, people might know about his fighting skills but not about his ethnicity and origins. Where did he grow up? What was his childhood like? Manuel Torres was born in Miami, Florida, and has one sister, Daniela. He is fluent in Spanish and is both Spanish and Lebanese. He was born on 25th March 1995 and his nickname is ‘El Loco’ in the fight world. Torres was 19 when he started fighting and training. The amazing fighter held the 145-pound Beat Down Championship and the 145-pound Triple R Championship. UFC legend Nick Diaz is also a strong factor that motivates him.

He had once said in an interview that if he went into UFC he would be living his dream. The Mexican prefers the Double-leg takedown and Spinning kicks during his fights. “I’m excited to be a part of the biggest promotion in the world; it’s still like a dream to me,” said Torres to the media. Torres had first tested himself on the Dana White Contender Series against Kolton Englund. Then his journey took a flight at UFC.

He fought composed and tactical, and the Chihuahua native passed his test with amazing smoothness finishing Englund by TKO in the first round. His first appearance on the roster happened at UFC APEX where he had won his contract.  Then he finally made his debut in 2023 at the grand Octagon.

Torres said, “It is exciting to fight here again [at the APEX], to come back after Contender Series. Obviously, I would love to fight in front of a packed arena soon.  It was plenty of work, though, and we’ve practically been in camp for seven months. So, I feel prepared for this moment.”

The Spanish /Lebanese fighter has so far fought Frank Camacho (UFC on ESPN 36), Nikolas Motta at UFC Vegas 75, and Chris Duncan at UFC Fight Night 237. All these wins came via finishes in the first round, including the Contender Series one. That’s six first-round finishes in a row for the fighter, three in the UFC.
