‘StarBoy’ has faced only two defeats in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, out of the 6 fights that he participated in. Entering a new promotion takes a toll on the fighters just like it does for many 9-5ers. Kape was no exception to this phenomenon. As he stepped into the UFC and debuted against future champion Alexandre Pantoja, back in 2021, ‘StarBoy’ got his first-ever defeat in the MMA promotion. Despite trying his best, he couldn’t overpower Pantoja and lost via unanimous decision.

Kape decided to climb back into the Octagon just one month after his debut. Unfortunately, the second fight in the UFC also resulted in a loss for the Portuguese-Angolian mixed martial artist. He was pitted against Matheus Nicolau at UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Muhammad. Yet again, the judges didn’t favor Kape and he lost via split decision.

Without a doubt, Kape didn’t want to lose any more fights. His tenacity ensured that he trained hard enough to overturn his 2-fight losing streak as he defeated Ode Osbourne at UFC 265. The flyweight fighter sent Osbourne to the dream world with a flying knee within the first round. His first-round finish continued in the next bout. Now, he sits on an impressive 4-fight winning streak.

Manel Kape’s losses outside the UFC

The fighter from Angola began his career in mixed martial arts with 4 breathtaking wins, before facing his first defeat. He was fighting at the Knock Out Championship when he lost his bout against Souk Khampasath in 2014. Soon after that, he signed himself up with RIZIN, where he faced his next three defeats.

It was RIZIN Fighting World Grand Prix 2017 when ‘StarBoy’ fought Ian McCall and defeated him with a first-round finisher. But the event had more planned out for the Angolan fighter. Just a couple of days after defeating McCall, Kape faced Rizin two-division champ and ex-UFC star Kyoji Horiguchi. Needless to say, the fighter needed to rest and recover to be able to fight at full potential again. As a result of the back-to-back matchups, he lost his fight via head and arm choke.

Kape then went against Kai Asakura at RIZIN 10 where he was handed his career’s third defeat. After winning the next fight, he competed again at RIZIN 14. This was when he received his fourth loss, as Ulka Sasaki took the victory via unanimous decision.

Nevertheless, the fighter from Xtreme Couture seldom fails to impress the crowd. And that’s exactly what he plans as he gets ready to face Mokaev. What are your thoughts on Kape’s losses?
