As UFC 309 continued to hype up the world of mixed martial arts with impressive fights, Dana White decided to take the excitement up a notch by putting out the card for UFC 310, the last PPV event of the year. Needless to say, the UFC head honcho wanted to finish the year with a banger card. However, the fighting community was not quite impressed with the matchmaking.
The famed MMA journalist, Damon Martin, took to X and shared the news with the fight fans. Alexandre Pantoja would defend his flyweight championship belt against Kai Asakura on the 7th of December, while Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Garry would clash in a five-round co-main event for UFC 310. Unfortunately, the matchup between Bryce Mitchell and Kron Gracie was what the fans didn’t like. Even Martin was of a similar mind, as he wrote,”#UFC310 main card …Bryce Mitchell vs Kron Gracie????”
The main card for UFC 310 would be initiated by Nate Landwehr facing Dooho Choi in a featherweight bout. And the third bout would mark a thunderous clash between the heavyweight legends, Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov. But one fighter that the entire MMA realm missed in the main card was Aljamain Sterling.

Just like Damon Martin, many fight fans stood against the fight between Mitchell and Gracie. One of the fans wrote, “Bryce Mitchell vs Kron Gracie makes no sense.” A few others believed that Dana White should have put Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev in the main card, instead of Mitchell and Gracie. A fan commented, “Bryce Mitchell over aljo??” Another fan questioned, “How is Sterling-Evloev not on the main card????” Needless to say, ‘The Funkmaster’ was greatly missed by the fighting community. One fan wrote, “I though Aljo was on this card !” Meanwhile, another comment read, “WHERES THE ALJO FIGHT.”
A few of the fans seemed pretty content with the main event. Some of them even began speculating the outcome of the bout. But Pantoja’s dominant grappling didn’t go out of the MMA realm’s sights. One fan commented, “Crazy how that’ll be asakura’s first fight in the UFC. Pantoja just grapples him.” Meanwhile, a few others stood in support of Asakura. A comment read, “Asakura winning will be the best thing for the organization.”
Although Ian Garry taking up a fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov on short notice was greatly appreciated by the UFC community, some fans didn’t like it being the co-main event. A fan wrote, “The fact that the co-main event isn’t an interim title deflates some of the hype for me.” This was the second change that the UFC CEO was forced to make for UFC 310.

The main card for the final PPV event of the year failed to excite the MMA world in the greatest possible way. But there was still hope for it to deliver a performance that would be entertaining enough. One fan reflected on this and wrote, “Might not be the best up front, but hopefully it’ll deliver.” But a few others believed it was the best ending to the year. A comment read, “And what an epic year of #ufc it has been!”
