Does Alex Pereira's 'magic' give him an edge, or is it all just smoke and mirrors?

“Everybody has their own spirit,” said Alex Pereira a few months ago when former rival Jiri Prochazka called him out for using shamanic magic. However, just a day after his UFC 307 win, fellow 205’er Magomed Ankalaev shared a message as a warning to the Brazilian, undermining his use of magic through a chapter from the holy Quran.

‘Poatan’ has been on quite the run in the UFC, winning two divisional titles in just ten UFC fights – the rarest record in the promotion. However, in some ways, his success has been undermined by accusations of indulging in the mystic realm. But guess what? That doesn’t seem to bother Magomed Ankalaev too much. Quoting a verse from the Quran, the Russian star encouraged Pereira to use whatever kind of magic he wanted, but he would never succeed against him in a fight.

“Cast what is in your right hand, and it will swallow up what they have made, for what they have made is no more than a magic trick. And magicians can never succeed wherever they go,” ‘Russian Terror’ wrote on social media. However, if we take a look at Alex Pereira’s record, his rituals might just be paying off as he’s recorded consecutive KO wins in his last 4 fights.

Although Ankalaev doesn’t care about Pereira using magic, the Brazilian’s arch nemesis, Israel Adesanya, claims to believe that what Jiri Prochazka said about the light heavyweight champion could not be further from the truth in his recent confession.

Despite Magomed Ankalaev shrugging off Alex Pereira’s link with magic, Israel Adesanya claims that it’s “real”

Yes, during the recent ‘JRE MMA Show’ appearance, Israel Adesanya touched upon the topic of Alex Pereira and his spiritual links during an honest confession to Joe Rogan. Backing Jiri Prochazka’s claims, ‘The Last Stylebender’ mentioned that he realized that there was an eerie presence of Pereira’s spirits when he lost to him twice in Glory of Heroes– and even in the UFC when after dominating the whole fight, Izzy fell victim in the final round to a barrage of strikes and was knocked out.

Have an interesting take?

“You know what Jiri said about the whole juju thing? Like that’s real. That’s real,” Israel Adesanya told Joe Rogan“The last time I fought him in Miami, look… the guy beat me in the biggest arena on the planet, Madison Square Garden same way as the last time he beat me in Brazil.” Could it have been a coincidence? Well, we may never know that.

Nevertheless, let us know what you think about Magomedov Ankalaev’s warning to Alex Pereira as the Russian star looks to bag a title shot against his Brazilian counterpart.
