Aljamain Sterling feels a bit disrespected by the UFC. And for good reason. After all, ‘Aljo’ was the UFC’s bantamweight champion until last year, but has been relegated to the prelims card for his UFC 310 clash against Movsar Evloev. Sterling of course, since losing his 135-pound title to Sean O’Malley last August has now moved up to featherweight and is making his way up the division to a title shot.
And his next opponent, the undefeated and prodigal Evloev is perhaps going to be his hardest test at 145lbs so far. In fact, ‘Aljo’s former foe and fellow former 135-pound champ, Henry Cejudo is very concerned for Sterling going into UFC 310. Speaking to co-host Kamaru Usman on their ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast, ‘Triple C’ broke down their matchup and explained why Sterling is at a seeming disadvantage.
“I like Aljamain, man. I really do, man… but he’s also going up against, in my eyes, the most problematic guy at 145 pounds. His style, you could call it boring, call it whatever the hell you want to call it, Movsar is f***ing dangerous, man. Like, and not just that, but he has heart, dude. Diego Lopes had this dude in that knee bar, that dude did not tap but he said he heard popping,” Cejudo marveled.

In addition, Cejudo pointed out that Evloev is also bigger than most of Sterling’s other opponents so far. This, of course, would be another ‘big’ challenge that ‘Aljo’ will face against Evloev along with the undefeated fighter’s world-class grappling.
“I just don’t know if Aljamain is going to be able to really kind of, because he is the bigger guy if he’s grappled with somebody at that level as Movsar. I mean his his [Evloev’s] striking is not the best. You probably want to give it a C minus, but his top control and his transitions up top, the dude’s really good,” he said.
On the other hand, Sterling too, is one hell of a grappler, at one time considered the best at bantamweight. But still, Cejudo gave the edge to Evloev going into UFC 310. “So if I’m leaning somewhere and I hope for the best for a guy like uh Aljamain Sterling, but this guy to me is the most problematic just stylistically with anybody. So for that reason, I’m going Evloev,” Cejudo added.
But Sterling is determined to prove the likes of Cejudo wrong at UFC 310. Let’s see what he had to say.

Aljamain Sterling vows to make the UFC regret putting him on the UFC 310 prelims
Aljamain Sterling tried to put up a brave face when asked about having to fight Movsar Evloev on the UFC 310 prelims card. Sterling admitted in his knock-off version of the UFC 310 Countdown video that while he didn’t know if he should be insulted or look at it optimistically, he did sardonically observe that “I get to fight earlier and get to be done earlier.”
But on the other hand, ‘Aljo’ has vowed to make the UFC regret putting him there with his performance against the undefeated Evloev. “I think people are gonna be in for a very big surprise, and the UFC is gonna realize we messed up big time by not putting this on the main card,” Sterling said.

This, of course, seems like a very good sign for the fans. After all, Sterling coming into the fight with a massive chip on his shoulder, determined to prove himself yet again has all the makings of an epic battle. Considering his opponent’s caliber and seemingly championship-level pedigree, Evloev too, has something to prove against Sterling.
This is why despite their clash being on the prelims card, fans cannot wait to see it. What do you think about Henry Cejudo’s take on the Aljamain Sterling vs. Movsar Evloev clash at UFC 310?
