Women’s bantamweight contender Macy Chiasson is set to make her return to action for a second time in 2024 against Mayra Bueno Silva at the reshuffled UFC 303 pay-per-view. Having been with the UFC since 2018, the 32-year-old made her way to Dana White‘s promotion after just a year of turning pro. It’s unusual for many fighters to get to UFC in just a year, but Chiasson has had some losses, too, and that’s what we’re going to look at today.

Born in ‘The Big Easy’, New Orleans, Macy Chiasson started her MMA journey back in her final teenage year, at the age of 19. Since then, there’s been no looking back but along the way, she had a few setbacks, but not until a year after she made her UFC debut.

Macy Chiasson bit the dust for the first time in her MMA career to Lina Lansberg, who has since retired from her fighting career in 2023 after losing to the 32-year-old’s upcoming opponent, Mayra Bueno Silva. In that fight, which took place at UFC on ESPN+ 18, Chiasson was outperformed by Lansberg, who comfortably edged past the New Orleans native with a 29-27, 29-27, and 29-28 score to grab a unanimous win.

The ‘TUF: Heavy Hitters’ winner’s second defeat was a tough one, to say the least. Macy Chiasson fought now-champion Raquel Pennington and suffered her first submission loss, which involved her tapping out to Dustin Poirier‘s favorite move, the guillotine choke. The fight stopped in the third minute of the second round, and Chiasson would later reveal that she was upset about the loss, but she took the fight on short notice, 10 days to be exact, similar to Alexander Volkanovski who took the rematch against Islam Makhachev at UFC 294 on 10 days’ notice as well.

Macy Chiasson’s third and last loss came against Mexican ace, Irene Aldana, who’s currently ranked 5th in the bantamweight rankings. And how did that fight go? Well, the match ended with a devastating result for Chiasson as she got slept with a knockout by the 15-7 record holder. However, Chiasson also had her good days and as far as her record is concerned, she has done pretty well for herself. Hence, let us take a moment to look at her wins and other records as well.

Since turning pro in 2017, Macy Chiasson has amassed a rather respectable record of 10 wins with three losses, and among those wins, she also had a winning streak, although it was of just three fights [including the TUF: Heavy Hitters finale fight]. Those three fights included wins over Gina Mazany, Sarah Moras, and Pannie Kianzad, whom she made bite the dust on two occasions.

Macy Chiasson would also defeat some other big names like Norma Dumont, Marion Reneau, and Shanna Young. The New Orleans native has also bagged some other honors, including two Performance of the Night bonuses for her fights against Pannie Kianzad and Sarah Moras. And now, she’ll look to add more wins and earn more bonuses as her 11th UFC outing is on the horizon.
