A.J. McKee recently picked up an incredible submission win over Patricio Freire at Bellator 263 and is now the Bellator featherweight champion. In a fight in which Patricio was the favorite, McKee’s display of sheer dominance, has left the MMA world in awe.
Declaring himself the best featherweight in the world, A.J. Mckee believes he can take on UFC elites such as the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Brian Ortega. In fact, both Volkanovski and A.J. McKee have been in a verbal back and forth on social media ever since McKee made the bold claim.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, McKee gave his take on a hypothetical fight between himself and the UFC’s reigning featherweight champion.

“At the end of the day, a lot of respect to Volkanovski for being a world champion, but he came from another sport, so for you to be in another sport and come over to this sport and be dominant, it shows he has the mindset to do it but I don’t know if he has all the crafts. Actually, I know he doesn’t have all the crafts to do it. Whether it’s on the feet, whether it’s on the ground, wherever the fight may go adapting in that situation, I feel like there’s a lot to expose in his career, in his skill set.”
Holding an undefeated record of 18-0, with seven submissions, six knockouts, and five decisions. It’s safe to say that A.J. McKee is one of the more well-rounded fighters in the sport of MMA. The level of competition has been steadily increasing across different MMA promotions. Therefore, fans would undoubtedly love to watch a cross-promotion fight to find out who really is the best in the world.

As of now, we know that UFC president Dana White is strictly against the idea of a cross-promotion fight. Although he made an exception for Conor McGregor, allowing him to fight Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
