Look: Joe Rogan’s Extremely Voiced Statement Gets Challenged by Conor McGregor Publicly

Conor McGregor has lately been very vocal in displaying his support for the UFC legend, Jose Aldo. Former rivals have now seemed to have made peace, and what earlier used to be just bitter exchanges of words, have now turned into words of appreciation.

Jose Aldo recently fought against no. 6 rank bantamweight, Merab Dvalishvili. The pair went to a decision, where the Georgian was awarded a unanimous decision win. ‘Notorious’ shared his thoughts over the fight. 

McGregor tweeted, “Leaned his way to victory. Refs need to separate stale positions quicker. Especially if happening repeatedly. Earlier each time. It’s fighting guys! Not saying anything about Mirab he done what he had to / won the match. The ref should separate tho to potentially get a real finish.”

It was clear from his reaction that McGregor wasn’t too amused at how the fight took place. ‘Notorious’ displayed resentment towards referees for allowing excess fence/clinch work. He called it a “stale position” where no action was taking place.

Joe Rogan, on the other hand, believes otherwise. He has voiced on a number of occasions that in a situation where fighters are tussling for a position, the involvement of referees in such scenarios should be minimum. Instead of the ref causing a break in the action, the commentator promotes fighters to work their way out and create separation on their own.

McGregor had also tweeted before the fight, wishing Aldo luck for his bout. He’d said, “Aldo is such an incredible fighter! A real all-timer! How’s that other fat smell bag doing? How is it that he never lost but he is still a loser hahaha smelly sh*t pant rat. Let’s go Aldo! A great fight with the little rocket level changer in Mirab. Can’t wait, I love fighting”

How the Fight Played Out

The fight itself was lackluster. Fans as well as UFC president Dana White were very explicit with their thoughts about the fight. The UFC head honcho didn’t seem too impressed by either of the two and said there was barely any action in the fight.

Jose Aldo had some success in the beginning. His striking looked clean, and he landed some hard knees up the middle. But, Dvalishvili’s grueling style proved to be a little too much for the ‘King of Rio’. The Georgian attempted 16 takedowns; however, he failed in every single one of them.

The fight mostly had ‘The Machine’ hold Aldo up against the fence and land a few knees here and there. By the final round, the former flyweight champ was completely tired and fell under Dvalishvili’s pressure.

Jose Aldo has come out and hinted at his retirement. After a legendary career and a title run that lasted for a decade, the fight at UFC 278 could very well be the last time we saw Aldo put up a show in the octagon.

McGregor and he share a history together. The pair were part of one of the biggest fights in the UFC. They faced each other at UFC 194, where Aldo was defending his flyweight gold against Conor McGregor. 

The fight saw one of the greatest and quickest knockouts in UFC history. The Irishman KO’d Aldo in 13 seconds, winning his first UFC belt.
