Khabib’s coach Javier Mendez predicts anything is possible in the lightweight division if it is Conor McGregor we are talking about.
At present, with the lightweight title vacant, there’s been uncertainty about the next title contender. Fans want Islam Makhachev to get the next shot, but not before passing the Beneil Dariush test. Featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski has also expressed interest in becoming a double champion. However, it is the first double champion who is doing the rounds.

When asked about his pupil’s uncertain title shot, and the very possibility of the UFC snubbing him for the ‘face of the fight game’ Conor McGregor, Javier Mendez was quick to compare it to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

I am not going to be shocked by anything that happens. Because if you’ve been involved as long as i have in this sport, you can’t be shocked.”
