Lightweight Rivals Mocked Hours Before They Clash by Conor McGregor in Embarrassing Remark as Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje’s BMF Clash Fails to Impress Irishman

UFC superstar Conor McGregor has always been a crowd-puller. The Irishman often finds a way to stay in the limelight, even though his last bout in the UFC was in July 2021. ‘The Notorious’ last fought against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and left the arena with a broken leg. However, staying away from the sport never took away the attention received by the former champion, as his carefree attitude and careless comments never failed to make headlines. By now, the MMA community is totally familiar with McGregor’s habit of deleting controversial tweets.

McGregor pulled the same stunt as he made fun of fellow lightweights, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. Poirier and Gaethje are just hours away from their monumental bout against each other at UFC 291. The most exciting part of the bout is that the winner will become the BMF champion of the UFC. Making the most of the attention around the pair, McGregor decided to take the opportunity to throw insults at ‘The Diamond’ and ‘The Highlight’.

Conor McGregor took to his Twitter handle to poke fun at Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. He wrote, “bmf’s in the sauna, where’s these two ticks final face off footage, some one give me a look.“However, soon afterwards, the UFC superstar deleted the post.

The face-off between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier took place in Salt Lake City at their weigh-ins. The two fighters have successfully made weight and will now face each other in the main event at The Delta Center on Saturday. It’s going to be the second time the two are coming against each other, with ‘The Diamond’ stealing a TKO win when they first locked horns in 2018.

The BMF strap is an added decoration to an already promising bout. While Gaethje and Poirier are itching to get their hands on the legacy belt, they are not the only ones wanting to do so. 

‘The Notorious’ wants the BMF belt

The MMA community is eagerly waiting for the comeback of Irish superstar Conor McGregor. However, ‘The Notorious’ disappointed a large section of MMA fans by not entering the USADA testing pool in time.

Hence, fans are hopeless about McGregor returning to the UFC Octagon this year to fight against Michael Chandler. Nonetheless, he is highly confident about himself and believes that he also deserves the BMF belt. A few weeks back, the Irishman tweeted, “And don’t think for one second that the bmf belt isn’t being lined up specifically for the Mac Dad. Little one division twerps.”
