The world may be mocking Katy Perry and her space flight co-passengers for her space flight, but Joe Rogan and comedian Tim Dillon just want to make sure that these women’s contributions to the progress of humanity are not minimized. For the unversed, Perry and the crew went for a brief, eleven-minute space flight about 62 miles from the Earth’s surface, where they briefly experienced weightlessness. On the flight, she was joined by five other women, including journalist Gayle King, NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Jeff Bezos, whose Blue Origin company was behind the whole thing.

Perry’s post-flight conduct, where she dramatically kissed the ground, was seen as cringy and overly dramatic by many, and she has been roundly trolled online over it. To the point that Perry reportedly regrets making a spectacle of her flight. But Rogan and Dillon, speaking about the topic on episode #2307 of the JRE podcast, had a much more subtle yet hilarious take on the whole thing.

“So they go up there and they float for like 10 minutes and then they come down,” Dillon said of the space flight. To which Rogan immediately objected and jumped to Perry and Co.’s defense. “Let’s not minimize this. It’s a big deal. Let’s celebrate female astronauts because they were united. Because a lot of men astronauts they have to go to school, they have to learn how to be a pilot first, then they have to join the Air Force or the Navy and then they get appointed by NASA, and then they go to space, you know,” Rogan said, with his tongue firmly in cheek.

“But that’s the other thing, there have been female astronauts,” Dillon pointed out, prompting an exasperated Rogan to remind Dillon, “Let’s let’s not minimize this. There was a b—h stuck on a space station for a few months. That’s terribly more impressive,” Dillon said, referencing of Sunita Williams and Butch Williams, who went to the International Space Station last year for a trip meant to last days, but which almost a year until they were brought back to earth on March 18, 2025.

But Rogan, you guessed it, told Dillon “let’s not minimize this.” Clearly, the two comedians are being ironic and having a laugh at Katy Perry and the Blue Origin space-flight crew. But some of the other celebrities were not quite as amicable and humorous about excoriating Perry and her co-passengers.

Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, and others criticize Katy Perry over Bezos-backed space flight

“Look at the state of the world, and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space, and for what?” Emily Ratajkowski said in a long rant on TikTok, where she called the space flight “end-time s–t” and “beyond parody.” Moreover, the model was very upset that the celebrity female crew was essentially helping whitewash Jeff Bezos’ reputation by becoming the face of his space tourism aspiration.

“Having a man who has power and become a part of the 1% purely through exploitation and greed deciding to take his fiancée and a few other famous women to space for space tourism is not progress,” an outraged ‘EmRata’ told fans.

Is Katy Perry's space flight a groundbreaking moment or just a billionaire's publicity stunt?

Have an interesting take?

Actor Olivia Munn shared some of Ratajkowski’s sentiments, and felt that “there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now. What are you guys gonna do up in space?… Like, it’s so much money to go to space, you know? And there are a lot of people who can’t even afford eggs. What’s the point? Is it historic that you guys are going on a ride? I think it’s a bit gluttonous,” she declared.

Actor Olivia Munn also took shots at Perry by posting a meme about the pop star on her Instagram Story, along with the caption “Billion dollars bought some good memes, I guess.” Jessica Chastain didn’t directly say anything about the space flight, but she did share an article critical of it on her X account. And now, you can add Joe Rogan and Tim Dillon to the list of their critics. What do you think about Joe Rogan and Tim Dillon’s take on Katy Perry and Co.’s space flight?
