Alex Pereira already has the option to chase a blockbuster showdown with Jon Jones. It’s a fight the reigning heavyweight champion appears to favor over a clash with interim titleholder Tom Aspinall. But Pereira isn’t limiting his ambitions to the heavyweight division. Following Dricus Du Plessis’ hard-fought win over Sean Strickland at UFC 312, ‘Poatan’ now wants to take on Du Plessis in a ‘super fight’. However, not everyone is thrilled about the idea. One of Pereira’s fellow Brazilian fighters has openly expressed concern about Du Plessis stepping into the cage with the feared striker.

In a time when becoming a UFC double champion is the ultimate prize, it’s no surprise that ‘Stillknocks’ has his eyes on Pereira and the light heavyweight belt. But not everyone is ready to let the middleweight champ chase gold in another division just yet. Rising contender Caio Borralho, currently ranked #6 at 185 pounds, has been on a tear since joining the UFC—and he wants his shot at Du Plessis first. Eager to make his case, Borralho recently revealed that he plans to reach out to Pereira and express his desire to fight for the middleweight crown. Submission Radio took to their Instagram page to share what Borralho had to say about the situation.

While speaking to the host he said, “Was just about to say to Alex, ‘Please Alex don’t look to my prey you know. This is my prey. You take a look at your division. Do your stuff. You are one of the goats one of the best ever you know. So just you know let me have my prey for me you know.'” Despite his ambitions, Borralho holds no grudges against his fellow countrymen. ‘The Natural’ has no problem with his fellow Brazilian taking a crack at Dricus Du Plessis first, and there’s no bad blood between the two countrymen. For Borralho, it’s less about rivalry and more about earning his chance to dethrone the middleweight king.

For those unfamiliar, Caio Borralho is riding an impressive 9-fight winning streak, including his victories on Dana White’s Contender Series. With his impressive performance, a future title shot feels almost inevitable. While he insists he doesn’t want to wait around to face Dricus Du Plessis, Borralho couldn’t resist sharing his take on the hypothetical showdown between ‘Stillknocks’ and Alex Pereira. Here’s what the Brazilian had to say!

Alex Pereira will make easy work of Dricus Du Plessis feels Caio Borralho

At the UFC 312 post-fight press conference, Dricus Du Plessis made a claim that might surprise many out there. He said, “I want to beat a guy — I’ve beaten [Israel] Adesanya, who has beaten him. I know I can beat him and at 205 [pounds]. One hundred percent.” However, there’s a problem, Alex “Poatan” Pereira isn’t just another contender. Living up to his fearsome nickname, he’s a stone-cold finisher with the kind of knockout power that can change the trajectory of any fighter’s career. And if you ask many observers, including Caio Borralho he feels Dricus Du Plessis might be better off focusing on a different challenge.

Borralho while speaking to Laerte Viana pointed out what exactly would happen if the pair ever faced each other. He said, “Every time I doubt Dricus, he wins. However, I think Poatan would kill him. Dricus makes so many mistakes, and Pereira will kill you if you make just one.”
