Derrick Lewis is back under scrutiny and for all the wrong reasons. Lewis was recently slated to face Brazilian Jailton Almeida to headline the UFC Sao Paulo event. Lewis after a long time has broken his losing streak by defeating Marcos Rogerio de Lima by TKO in 33 seconds at UFC 291. Derrick Lewis finds himself ensnared in a web of legal complications mere days before his imminent bout. As per an ABC13 report, ‘The Black Beast’ underwent a brief detention, subsequently securing his liberty through a $100 personal recognizance bond. Lewis was apprehended for propelling his red Lamborghini at a speed of 136 miles per hour within a 50 mph zone in the city of Houston, Texas. His vehicular maneuvers were reported to be perilously weaving through lanes.

A court appearance has been slated for the 27th of December, and Lewis finds himself confronting a misdemeanor charge concerning his heedless operation of the vehicle. It should be noted that Lewis has a kick for speed and velocity. The reports suggested that ‘The Black Beast’ was clocking thrice the actual speed limit.

Lewis is set to fight on November 4th, in a bout that is significant for his career. The arrest came 10 days before Lewis is scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday. Luckily, it did not prevent him from traveling to Brazil for the event.
