In the world’s biggest MMA promotion, having a top position in the Pound for Pound rankings is indeed a great deal. UFC introduced PFP rankings back in 2013. The rankings are based on the votes generated by media members. This has brought clarity to deciding the most dominant UFC fighters. The media persons will vote for whichever fighter they feel stood out by considering their weight class and pound for pound. According to the major condition of the promotion, a fighter is only eligible to be in the ranking if he or she is an active contender in the UFC. Additionally, the MMA fighter can actively participate in two divisions simultaneously.
When it comes to champions and interim champions, they are already placed at the top of their division, so their names won’t be included in voting for division rankings. Nonetheless, the kings of each division are included when it comes to PFP rankings. The current UFC pound-for-pound rankings have divided the internet into multiple factions. One common factor the majority pointed out is how Leon Edwards destroyed the career of Kamaru Usman.
