Leon Edwards had a disappointing loss against Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 and even Dana White was not happy. He had promised a bonus of $100k after Edwards requested, but then said that he regretted it. This was a rematch between the two, and Muhammad came out victorious. Recently, his coach gave some clarity on why he performed the way he did. So let’s dive deep into what happened.

During a chat with Submission radio, coach Dave Lovell came clean on what the matter was with Edwards. He said, “His hands have improved. But it was just a case of, you know we never expected anything different. He did what a wrestler did. He did what a wrestler supposed to do against a striker.”

He further stated about a possible back injury and explained, “And his game plan come off. Where Leon was concerned. A lot of people don’t know this, and I am not making any kinds of excuses for him. But we had a few niggles in camp his back was niggling. So he couldn’t wrestle the way he really needed to.”
