Can Leon Edwards handle Colby Covington's trash talk and back it up in the octagon?

Gilbert Burns is set to take on Sean Brady at UFC Fight Night in the welterweight category. He is returning to the octagon after back-to-back losses to current title holder Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. This is making him more desperate to come back to the top and a victory over Brady can catapult him right into the welterweight title mix. Burns could be offered a fight against Ian Garry or Shavkat Rakhmonov and he is not hesitant to fight his teammates. Meanwhile, the fighter also took the names of Leon Edwards and Colby Covington, so he seems to be ready to fight them as well.

During an interview with Inside Fighting, Burns was asked who would he call out after this fight with Brady. ‘Durinho’ said, “For sure, me beating uh, and I know it will be me after Big Sean he gotta be a big fight you know even those legendary fights that you are talking about you gotta be Kamaru, Leon Edwards, or Colby Covington you know.”

“Those are the names that I am calling out after that fight and then because we don’t win over any one of these guys, the title shot is next so that’s still to go. And that’s what I am looking forward to. Go out there, get that finish on Sean Brady,” the fighter added. Not only does the UFC welterweight fighter not mind fighting his training partners but also other welterweight prospects like Edwards and Covington.

He had declared during the Believe You Me podcast that he was ready to beat Kamaru Usman after winning against Sean Brady and then moving on to Shavkat Rakhmonov. Burns also explained that fighting his teammates was inevitable because several of his current and former training partners were ranked in UFC’s top 10 welterweight standing. He stated recently, “Leon Edwards now has no opponent. That’s a big fight. Kamaru Usman, a former champ, rematch, is a good fight. Colby Covington too. He’s another one.”

The fighter, however, first has to get through Sean Brady, who he views as a tough nut to crack. On that note, let’s see the payouts they might receive for the upcoming fight.

According to NY Fights, ‘Durinho’ had previously won $200,000 from his loss against Belal Muhammad. The Brazilian also supposedly earns between $150,000 and $250,000. On the other hand, Brady earns a little less according to NY Fights. It is estimated that the American achieved $80,000 for a win over Kelvin Gastelum and had a $50,000 payout for the UFC 280 loss to Muhammad.

According to these estimates, burns might take home $150,000 and $250,000 whereas his opponent will earn $50,000 to $80,000 with a career-high of $100,000. This is because UFC Vegas 97 will be his first main event against a high-profile opponent. Do you think Burns will win and if he does, who will be his next opponent? Tell us in the comments below.
